Mobile Phone Contract Thread.

My contract is up next month, currently with ID. They’ve been great to be honest…well I say great, reality is I’ve never had to contact them. Trouble is the new deal is significantly worse than my old one. Wife’s telling me to go sim only, but I normally like a new phone. Just not sure a new iPhone offers anything over my existing iPhone 13. So wife is likely right (as per)

I wouldn't say you'd notice anything new with a 15 apart from the obvious like longer battery due to it being new etc. Why not go on a monthly sim only and see what the iPhone 16 is like in September? Worst case it's a 'meh' iteration like normal and bag yourself a cheaper 15 deal?

Sounds very sensible. Thats probably what I’ll do. New phones are so meh nowadays.

Now this has confused me cos EE is far more expensive than anyone else?

Well, it has gone up recently but I'm still only paying £12.50 p/m - I could cut that in half technically, with Smarty, but I get £10 off my broadband bill for having them both with EE so works out for me in the end.

I've just renewed my EE sim only today for 12 Months contract, I've gone for the 60GB for £12 a month with 6 Months Free Apple TV.

I will be swapping to Vodafone, the signal by mine is rubbish and there is an issue with thr mast.

there's a website where you can check for mobile coverage on certain networks around the UK checker.ofcom.org.uk mobile coverage - something along the lines of that

Use Vodafone network I have just ordered the 15 deal sim.

Won't get anything cheaper anywhere I can find!

Any of these sims have EU roaming, ended up paying per day which was a con?

O2 has turned dogshit in my area, looking to change. Any good sim only EE deals about 50gb+ data?

Smarty has EU roaming, I didn't realise an bought a 15gb add on for internet. Didn't use any of it at all, fortunately it doesn't expire but still it was a waste of £12 😂

Comparison sites are best for sim only offers always.
I am on lebara unlimited mins and texts, 100 mins roaming and 15g 5g data on Vodafone
Quid a month for 7 months then £6.99 I month rolling contract.
Signal is soo much better than 02.

Yeah sim only i think is the way to go, been doing it for years now. i got 60GB of data unli texts and calls and EU roaming too, also free add on for Apple TV for £12 a month 12 month contract. Its through EE which been with them since T-mobile days. My area is spot on for EE though

Im in a bit of a pickle it seems.
1. Been with Orange/EE a while
2. Legacy contract (2019) that includes everything pretty much unlimited text/data (200GB data never touch it) and European data/minutes with international roaming too.
3. No real issues, 3/4/5G all work fine.
4. Price - Not above £20ish

Should I look at changing to another network? Suits me and sure its £20 but, its SIM only, 30 day rolling. Issue is the legacy European bundles aren't included in many tariffs now.

Thoughts?

Thing is most people still pay for more than the EVER realistically use what's the point in having so much data and roaming etc when you could get away with loads less.
Most people spend 80% of the time on a WiFi connection anyway.

Correct, however i hardly ever use Wireless connections. Purely as i have the 200GB data, so why should I even touch my own network.
Example was in Cyprus and used 80GB while away and European roaming is good when I visit Europe least 4 times a year.

Its more the do new contracts include european roaming as seen some removing it and having it as an add-on now.

Got a link to that ;)

Used to have the full monty with EE unlimited everything, BT sports etc binned it all off

for a few years i had 160gb of data for £20 and hardly used 1/4 of it. So decided to drop data to 60gb. I thought yeah the more data the better. If your not using it get rid of it and save some ££

Changed slightly since I had it but still doing some good deals.

One thing to mention , I got my deal by ringing up EE and speak to upgrades. They offer different deals than what’s on the website

You should have just spoken to cancellations they would of given you a WAY better deal than upgrades dept.

Really I didn’t know that. I’ll try that next time

Always the same mate with any contract virgin sky bt etc speak straight to cancellations upgrades are a waste of time.

Cancellations dept is always known internally as customer retention dept they have max discounts and deals available to offer you to keep you.😉

Aye thanks, what sort of speel should I say to start off. I’m looking at going over to another network what can you offer ? That sort of thing or do they ask you loads of questions on why your speaking to cancellation

£49.95 a month for the phone with Apple
£12 a month for 120GB 5G with Three

Total of £61.95 a month for 24 months, £0 upfront.

Can this be beaten? Been with EE for years but their deals now are shocking, even with a discount applied to my account, the cost was coming out at more than the above and they also wanted £300 upfront.

Wtaf? He then tried to sell me a 50Mbps broadband deal. When I told him I get 1gb download speeds he said I’m lying 😂
