MX5 Number 2.

  Listerine & Poledo
Mazdaspeed, Flyin Miata, Jackson Racing.

The only 3 brands of tuning equipment an MX-5 needs.

Then some 15" Fondmetals, dressed in Goodyears F1's... or Enkei's with Bridgestones

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Hero banner behind it!

Pork pays my wages!

F**k knows who will actually see the banner - it's in the middle of nowhere! lol. Do like me some pork though.

Why no coilovers on?!

Because quarterly electricity bill.
If I still lived at home with my parents, it'd be on its arse, turbo'd, nice wheels, the lot - but I've got a s**t job with s**t pay and an expensive flat (hopefully changing job in September). Coilovers will be bought as soon as I have the money in my account. It's killing me having it at this height - but not as much as not being able to eat would kill me... lol.

Had the roof off for the first time today in this MX5, forgot how much of a laugh it is! Made a good few people laugh being a bit too optimistic with cornering speeds and s**te rear tyres
Seriously love this car; it's laugh out loud good.
Drove to the end of the world:

Horrendous. So standard is back in for now...

Not bad that. Spot on with the bronze wheels.

Thanks! It's getting there. Think I definitely made the right choice with the colour though :D

Lol at the turner spec seat height.

Flol! Yeah, I could see Over the windscreen ffs.

Just blasted back along the M62 at 85-90cheesecakes/hour, worked out I've done 37.2MPG over the past couple of days (278 miles). Pretty astonishing considering I've not exactly been pootling along and the car's been fully loaded with parts!
I'd have been lucky to see 27mpg in the GTI6, and still wouldn't have had as much fun.

Only thing that will get you sitting lower and OEM is an elise seat.

My bride seat touched the roll rage it was that high!

Really? That's a bummer. Elise seats are very nice, but I imagine quite costly? There's a fair chunk of height to be taken out of the sliders and side-mounts, I've ordered some of these to try out, posted on the previous page http://www.jb-fab.com/catalog3.html
Eliminates bolting side mounts to a subframe... but I'm still not sure they're going to be low enough :(

You might be able to pilfer seats from one of the front-drive Lotus Elans?

but that woulds still be sacreligious. ;)

Waitey have you tried those mounts I posted then as I want to fit my brides next week with a TR Lane GP bar and harness bar..

I'm a lanky b*****d and I don't want to look too much like noddy in mine. Do Lotus Elise seats seriously go lower?

I said I'd never do it... but I've cleaned it. Seeing Jason's £150 wonder has made me a little green with envy, so I had to make this one at least Look more expensive!
I gave it a minor paint correction, but I've not got any product or pads that are aggressive enough for the really bad areas. I also, unsurprisingly, think it's seen some paint in its life time; the front passenger wing and boot lid came up really well really quickly - but the bonnet, roof, doors etc took forever just to get rid of the marring... Odd.
Anyway here are some pictures.
First, the before pictures; pretty horrendous, I think you'd agree!

A couple of 50:50's, first up the front bumper - which took forever to make any sort of difference - like the bonnet:

Next, the boot - which was a lot easier!

The apparent marring left in that photo was just polish residue that I'd not cleaned off - it's come out really well!
I then applied Extra Gloss Protection as a sealant;

Followed finally by Collinite 476, which took f**king forever to remove! And also Chemical guys trim and tyre gel (which is awesome IMO!)

Might do a bumper chop tomorrow - get rid of that horrible fog light! Other than that and the f**king front wheel, I'm pretty pleased with it at the moment! :)

Here's a comparison from when I first bought it too,

Wish I could afford an MX like that. TROLOLOLOL.

So much progress in all seriousness! That rear arch looks rather japanese, do they do repair panels for these? If it's cheap I may look into it.

I can't really take it to CSS with odd wheels can I! Really need to figure out how to get it off - I think your plan of loosening off the other three bolts is my favourite at the moment, it's just that it's on so tight that I might end up snapping the stud before the nut loosens? That's what I'm worried about, anyway - I've no idea how strong the studs actually are...

Just taking my time with it! (Not through choice though, unfortunately! lol)

Seeing it clean under the sun today made me consider sorting the rear arches out... Might be something to think about next year. Just buying a solid shell in the first place would be much easier though!

  Edition 30
It's fine, don't worry about that. Get it on its arse and slide it round a few big corners.

Then you'll be happy :)

Course it's going to CSS, just pissed off it probably won't be low :(

Anyway, onto todays work. Bumper chop to get rid of that horrid f**king fog light!

Started out cutting a rough shape in the bumper skin.

Then cut out the left hand curvy bit.

And then finished cutting the black inner bumper bit (proper pain in the arse!)

Wired the fog into the drivers side reverse light. Done.

Next, I wanted to sort out the sidelight arrangement. Previously, the lights would pop up and the headlights would come on dimmed whenever you turned the sidelights on. That looked gash.
So after removing a plug, soldering the indicator to the sidelight and the sidelight to the indicator, I was left with these for sidelights!

Very USDM

And that's where I've left it for today.

Going really well but a few questions:

Why is that gammon wheel still on?

Why have you cut the bumper before lowering it?

And why haven't you lowered it yet?

Much love.

You've got to come to CSS in it. Innit.

I have something to stand under when it rains then.

FLOL. B**tard. I found out today that I've got a Sachs damper on the rear. So I've got an MXTrophy, technically.

Is Goodj going? You'll wake up to him doing unspeakable things to the arch gap.

LOL! I hope so. We need to get him converted one way or another...

It's got a sleeve on the outside of the nut that spins - so I imagine not, unless I could somehow chisel the sleeve off... Only issue there is that the hole in the wheel is f**king tiny! Barely any room to work with.

Might be worth giving it a go though - need to work out the size of the nut first.
