My 172 and Mates EK9 Civic Type R

me and my mate went a blast since it was a nice day, gave mine a quick wash before we went, CTR had a good detail as its up for sale (pm me if anyones interested or watch for the add coming on Piston Heads)

You mean a facelift? only problem with that is it's a whole front end, bumper headlights wings bonnet and grille! He doesnt like the facelifts lol he is old school! says the Rx's came with metal pedals, red stitched gear knob, remote locking and were made in 00 (couple of other minor diff's)

ek4 is a vti/sir (vti being top uk spec, sir being top spec jap car bth fitted with b16a or b16a2 dependant on age) ek9 is the type r and type r only

you get a prefacelift like the one above, a facelift and the last of the ek9's were type Rx's which was the facelift shape but had some extra bits and bobs. remote locking red stitched gear knob, metal pedals couple of other extras that i cant mind off the top of my head

the facelift had different heater controls and a double din stereo slot, slightly different carbon effect as well.

Oooh, i like the sound of the Type Rx's.
Im guessing they go for silly money/ as rare as rocking horse s**t and therefore more than likely out of my price range.

no, they arent that rare actually, quite easy to get a hold of. And go for reasonable money, the ek9's prices go by condition over anything else!

Ooh, right then. Gonna do some hunting for some ek9 Rx's then!
Got around 7k to play with so can hopefully get a nice one for that amount.

Rx's for some reason are a little more pricey to insure! yeah if look around enough you will get a good one for that!

Ek9 is supposed to be just under 6 seconds 0-60... but i imagine it would run outta puff before the 172 does?

civic handles better than my clio due to the LSD corners at crazy speeds! (not like a 172 corners that slow either!!)

were not really into abusing our cars off the lights etc but from 30+ the clio pulls on it, over 100 clio is a good bit quicker.

overall imo the civic is the better drivers car, personally i prefer the clio though so i wouldnt replace it with one but its an AWESOME car, this on especially is 100% mint, in better condition than my 6yr old clio and they sound brilliant standard!

hi mate sorry just noticed your post, it was up at loch lubnaig just past callender, decent location and what a drive taking it to the redline in 4th then back on the brakes blip to 3rd and away we go again! im in love with it!
