That was it.

Knock at the door, in comes a nice man.

"Yours was the 4th one in the last few days, so we've been giving it full attention. The pictures you emailed were circulated and I myself have been driving around all day looking for it. It was spotted being driven 'badly' on a local estate at 1300. Officers are with it now, as the crow flies, 1/3 mile away. We knew it was a "cherished" car so instead of lifting it will use the keys."
"How is it?"
"Seems fine. Looks like it will drive with no problem. There's a few scratches around the front bumper and wing though."
"Oh, no worries, I did that."

Really good news. I, like others had been following this thread as I'd be gutted if it were me. Hopefully they can sort out the stolen goods as well?

I slate the police because every one that I have dealt with has been largely ignorant or on a power trip - this time I take my hat off to them for the common sense in asking for a key and the way they have dealt with it.
