My 172 - Silvervisions and Cup Splitter - before and after

  ex Clio 172 owner :(
Fitted the Silvervisions this morning along with a Cup Splitter (courtesy of blobby - cheers). Bulbs take 30 seconds each to swap, splitter is trickier and requires the help of a mate to make life easier.

Pre bulbs and splitter..

Post bulbs and splitter..

Pleased with the splitter however, I didn't notice the bottom of the bumper is scuffed and means that, level with the letter on the reg between the GB and the 53, it doesn't quite meet the splitter properly. Hard to notice when you're standing up, a few feet away.

Silvervisions aren't as good as I thought. Sure the tops of the bulbs are silver but the shafts still have a bit of orange on them meaning you do get a small amount of orange reflected around the headlight glass.

Rear silvervisions are a similar effect.

After..

I also bought Bluevision H7 bulbs for the main beam and bluevision sidelights.
The main beams still look yellow to me though (no photos here). The sidelights, I can't get them fitted! My hands are too big and can't manage the passenger side never mind the driver's side. The driver's main beam was hard enough. Going to have to get a midget to do it.

Pretty please with the results. Maybe gonna take the spitter off and adjust it's position.

Ordered some totally plain and standard reg plates from fancyplates.com to go on next. Currently seeking a second hand (preferably iceberg silver) Cup rear spoiler and possibly some anthracite 182 alloys. Ordered a ITG panel filter and will need some new tyres and exhaust soon. Going for 4x F1-GSD3's or Exalto and a 3 inch s/s Powerflow cat back.

Had the car a week now and really pleased with it. Smooth and civilised, yet lively when you put your foot down. Nowhere near as hardcore as my old VTS but just as much fun and far nicer all round.

Been getting 32ish mpg around town and 45 on motorway run this morning.

:approve:

Looks good mate, the splitter makes a big difference when you see the car in the flesh doesn't it. You're doing well to see 45mpg, I see 40 max on mine, it usually averages out at around 38 tho.

Looking great mate

Silvervisions and plain plates are something i always do as its the small things that make the biggest difference overall

You have PM

  Mazda 3 MPS Mk1
make sure they are the proper phillips jobbies mate, otherwise they go brown/black after a while...

you have just inspired me, £11 quid delivered from tebay ;)

Looking nice an d mint.

As per Silvervisions, mine where fully fledged Philips but I get the same effect. They might be the older style Silvervisions, as I saw a set that are silver ontop, white band in the middle and the bottom half silver.

They are proper Philips Silvervisions off powerbulbs.com

Here's an interesting thing from Powerbulbs....

You get free bluevision sidelights when you purchase a pair of silvervision indicators... OK?
So I order two sets of them, so you'd think I'd get at least one pair of sidelights free?
Well, I order those two sets along with bluevision H7 main beams (which happen to come with the bluevision sidelights as part of the package), BUT I didn't get any free sidelights. It's as if I don't get them because I they think I don't need them if I get them with the H7's?

So let me get this right... order one pair of indicators and get a free pair of sidelights. Total cost £12.50.
Order two pairs of indicators and a set of main beams all totalling £52 and I don't get free additional sidelights?!

I emailled them back and got told
"Regarding your original enquiry just to confirm as stated on web site it is one offer per customer, if the offer wasn't available you wouldn't have received the W5W's in with your Blue Vision bulbs you would have received them in single blister"

... which to be honest doesn't really make sense.

Next time I'll order them seperately.

I've just put some philips silvervisions in the front of my 182 , slight orange tint on the back otherwise alot better than the originals , but the silvervisions on the back look pure silver :)

I think they make a big difference, and the splitter looks great. I really must get around to putting silvervisions on the 182.

Cup spoiler and 182 alloys will look fantastic Chris and I'm glad you're pleased with the car. :)

Aye it's just I need four tyres soon too and don't have £600-700. I'll have to have a look at my finances.

I'm in need of some slivervisions now ... which ones are the best then?????... as some tend to look pure silver & some have a hint of orange?? is this differences in manufacturer? or just the angle you look at them?

  ex Clio 172 owner :(
Well tbh I'm not that impressed with the Philips Silvervision. The tops of the bulbs are a very mild gold looking and the sides look fairly orange.

Never tried the Osram Diadem from powerbulbs.com but maybe they'll be better.

them diadem ones look all blue and purple etc dont they?? like a sortof rainbowy reflection.

look aweful IMO

i got some 'chrome bulbs' off ebay and theyre REALLY silver

but dont flash as bright as standard orange ones do.
had them in for about 6months now and the chrome surface on them is starting to 'crack'.

would buy another set though pureply because they are aLL silver, not partly silver, or bluey/purple/etc.

here's mine:

you have been quite lucky with thoase cheap bulbs then bud, i had some in a 206 i had,and they just went black :(

  Oyster Card
Managed to pick up some Phillips Bluevision main beems from my local maplins for a fiver, well pleased with them, got rid of the dull yellow light for perfect white so much better down dark roads as well as looking nice.

  G/W 200 and project Vdub
the bulbs were the first thing i got on my 182, looks pukka was the splitter easy 2 fit?

  ex Clio 172 owner :(
The splitter was a little twisted making it awkward to hold in place and I didn't have any tape strong enough.

I got a mate to hold it while I drilled and screwed it in place.

I'm about 90% happy with it's position but gonna leave it a couple of weeks to become untwisted and refit it. It looks pretty good, I just like things right in my mind.

was that just on the driveway??

both times i fitted mine i used a pit at work, even then it was a bit of an awkward t**t to do, but managed both times doing it single handedly just.

its alot easier over a pit or on a lift as you can easily get a drill in there to put the much neded pilot holes in.

  ex Clio 172 owner :(
I had mine sort of on the pavement with the bumper overhanging the drive ramp, so giving a bit more clearance. My sister has a pit.... totally forgot!! Doh!
