My 182 Cup broke down.....

  Peddled device
....last saturday night....miles away from home.I went to Ripon with my bro to pick up a 206cc for his wife.We knew it was a risk but there was a few good roads :)
Anyway,on the way back the temp gauge went to zero and the car was popping and farting so l pulled over into a lay-by miles from any where and switched off the engine for a few minutes.

ONE AND A HALF HOURS LATER.....and after a call to Reno-assist.....it started and l limped it home...25 mpg !!!

Thanks to everyone who drove pass my lovely racing blue 182Cup with its bonnet up and beeped!

Its booked in to Reno Manchester 2moz.Moral of the story...? Tell your bro to get a taxi !

Yeah....but when he asked for a lift and l looked at my sex-wee 182 how could l resist :) It'll be sorted this week and then l'm going to sleep in it on the drive.. :)

I love my 182 Cup :)

I wouldnt have risked going anywhere with it knowing it had that temp sender problem. Hope you get it sorted.

  cock mobile.
Well it is faster than your old car, that comes with some costs, lol.

Seriously though, this is why especially in the world of Reno, it's better the devil you know!

Hope you get her sorted out soon though!

Hope it gets sorted quicky mate.
I always hate to read posts like this. I've wanted a 182 since I first test drove one a couple of years ago (absolutely loved it) but I've always been put off by these reliability horror stories and ultimately it always stops me opening my wallet. I've had various fords for the last 4 years and you certainly don't read many of these threads on the zetec-s owners club (although most of us have a big soft spot for the clio too!).

hmmm, but in defence on reno, the zetec S has a chronic rust problem, that affects them under 5yrs old!!!

But yeah reno, seem unable to sort things first time around.

This is why I am never ever ever ever ever ever buying another ford. People sl@g renaults build quality... at least if a bit falls off u can stick it back on... with the fiesta the thing just rusts and disintegrates.

hmm wonder if its the famous renault coils? not often you hear of many probs with the clio engines tho, mine never missed a beat in 2 years

Very true, and not what you expect on a relatively new car. But sorted under the 6 year anti-corrosion warranty long ago with no fuss from ford and after 2 years not coming back. I actually arranged for the local ford garage to send someone to my work back then to inspect 6 fiestas for the rust spots under the door seals - very nice chap, immediately authorised the warranty work on all the cars which was completed quickly to everyones satisfaction. It's important to be able to rely on the dealer to sort out any problems. :quiet:

Don't get me wrong, I'm not slagging the clio - I love them! It's only what I've read on here that puts me off owning one.

key word, rely on dealers, impossible with reno.

but didnt realise it was 6yrs, my mates has a rusting arch on a W plate, so might be wort a shot at ford.

They do need a full history though if i recall correctly to be repaired under warranty, but theres no harm in trying.

No, service history isn't important when claiming under the anti-perforation warranty. No respectable car manufacturer would try to tell you that your car rusted because you didn't change the cambelt when they wanted you to. Ford didn't quibble over any of the 6 cars - one of them was more than 6 years old so out of warranty anyway but Ford paid the full cost of the repair out of goodwill. I was impressed with that.

The sensor is not the problem.

It's the wiring that's connected to the sensor.

They're so BLOODY thick, why can't they put a note on their computer systems???? Grrrr!

Agreed. I had the same problem and it was wiring. Why the f**k do Renault's dealers still not know about this problem?? LOL :clown:
