My BG 182 Track Car Build

I fitted the inner ARB bushes Sunday and that is a job I never want to do again unless I have access to a ramp nearly 4 hours lying on the floor, if they have to be done again it is going to a garage.

Made a couple of show plates for the car a few weeks ago just a pair of old plates covered them in carbon fibre vinyl and a Renault sport sticker on top think they have come out good.
I also had a new RS rear badge made in orange

Never seen this before! Nice build, all very well thought out. Couple of questions though...

The carbon door cards are all fitted now just need the handle spacers

What door pulls are you using and what are the surrounds from? They look quite neat.

It is Halfords anthracite wheel paint same as what I used on the inside just lacquered on the inlets.

How did you get on with this paint? Does it go on ok and how durable is it? Does it resist scratches and stains ok? Does it give a smooth finish that doesn't trap dirt?

Nice build! Can't believe how clean yours is for a track car. Slightly ashamed of myself 😂

Thank you I try my best to keep it in good condition.

The door pulls are TRS ones and the surrounds are from Porsche, I will sort you the part numbers out later they were only a couple of quid each.

The paint is really good I have not lacquered it but it seems nice and durable, never going to be as hard wearing as a professional paint job but it only cost about £25

Yeah would appreciate the numbers for those. I like a nicely executed door pull!

Interesting to know about the paint. I did my Escort with a gun in white. It's fairly durable, but I hate using a compressor and white is a nightmare to keep clean, so interested in other options for my next project. I really like the grey, so might get a can to try out!

Such a neat job with the oil cooler! Like it very much.
How was the SPA gauge to fit?

I am more than happy with the finish and the advantage to a rattle can if it gets scratched it is easy to touch up again.

These are the door straps and Porsche trim.

Perfect, thanks guys, will get a set of those. Cheap really.

Few more jobs done recently.
I brought a small tablet in the black friday sale as I had a thought of using torque pro app or Harrys laptimer on it also use it as a sat nav but then I needed a neat way of mounting it as I don't like all sorts of crap stuck to the screen, after a lot of searching I gave up and decided to make my own.
So with some thin aluminium sheet, go pro mounts and some sticky backed felt the mount was made I am pleased with the way it has come out.

As I had a spare Radio facia and climate control panel I decided to send them away along with the door pull rosettes and electric window switch surround to get them flocked to match the rest of the dash and whilst I had the doorcards off I got some more pull straps in orange just to continue the blank and orange theme.

A long time since I updated this.
I have not done much now just refresh a few painted parts changed the PMS shaft to orange, had a black suede gear gaiter with orange stitching made and carbon skinned the shifter knob.
I never liked the hole in the centre of the steering wheel so had a gel badge made up.

It has had usual maintenance gear and engine oil changes also had the cambelt done.

Over the last week I gave the car a 2 stage polish and then ventured into the world of ceramic coating, applied 2 coats of Carpro CQUK 3.0 and a coat of reload.
It has come out really well.
Over the next couple of weeks it will have a engine and gearbox oil change brake fluid change and a new windscreen fitted ready for Donington next month.

@frayz It really is a well thought out track car which over the last 5 years has cost me a lot of money😂, @M.C.. has helped make my track car a lot better built with so much help and suggestions over the years.(y)

On Monday I did a Javelin day at Donington with @Andy P it was a enjoyable day but loads of red flags at one point there was 2 red flags in 3 laps.
Javelin seemed to have a free for all policy at Donington as the standard of driving was very poor mainly from the BMW drivers, there were a few Radicals and I had a terrible experience with those the one year at Donington but they were very well behaved and respectful (y)

Also appears that there are lots more cars on track than there used to be, I wonder if they are they just being greedy and taking more bookings now than they used to because they can sell them because of COVID????

I did 140 laps and the car ran well all day with the last hour or so the best as most had gone home, got some good laps in.

There were a few Clios there including @FPummell went and had a chat and look at the car, it is a very nice quality build and it goes well.
You are in my video coming past and you just pulled away from me
