My brakes are sparking - great stuff :D

I travel down a lot of narrow tree-lined unlit country roads, and on my way home tonight I noticed a flash (quick like a camera flash but not as bright) out of the drivers window everytime I came off the brakes.

So I wound the window down, stuck my head out, and did a few hard stops - I was greeted with a HUGE shower of sparks every time :D

I'm so happy right now. These Carbon Lorraine pads work. Well.

I want some of that! Are they the ones I've just seen on the K-tec site? Saw them while idly browsing for some new pads. Need a road/track pad to replace my DS2500s. How do they compare? They need to be OK for commuting though...

Cheers

Nice, where did you get them from Mark?

Actually they're not too bad during normal driving. On my commute they're silent, I barely use the brakes and the pads and the discs don't really bite together with light pressure.

Once I do a few stops though, they're in. They work fine, but respond very well to heating.

High speed, firm pressure on the pedal and I slow well enough, for 0.5 second, and then it's like hitting a wall once they reach temperature.

Overall stopping stamina I've not tested on track yet, but they do give me wheel locking ability with a very gentle touch which will be much better for gear changes.

Edit: I know it's been done before - loved the pics of Lee's, and Nik's Trophy at the Airfield
