Spent some time on the paint work today.
Full decon, multiple foams and rinses, clayed and the coated with Auto Finesse Triple and a coat of g3 wax just for good measure.
It didn’t scrub up too bad but it has shown me how many defects there are in the paint.

Hopefully I’ll be able to get it in the garage this week to diagnose the knock going lock to lock.

So the BG is going up for sale…
I’d been in talks with the current owner of my 172 turbo with looks to buy it back but he has only owned it 3 weeks and wants silly money for it, His words!
So I put a call out on the socials looking for a well specced n/a or turbo 182 and people responded well offering me all sorts of different versions. Catcams 182, 197 cammed 182, stock 182s and a couple of turbos.
A few people messaged me an I messaged a couple of owners but currently being on shift made it arkward for me to go see anything so decided to leave it for now.
A couple of days later I had a notification on fb messenger just saying I have a 182 turbo for sale as going for a new electric car. A few messages back and forth, some pics and details and I can say come 27th Nov I will be the new owner of a 182 turbo! 🤞🏻
Im not going to post any pictures or specs until I physically have the car because nothing is 100% guaranteed.
So the BG will be for sale imminently pending the collection of the new turbo, if you interested pm me… Stay tuned for more information coming soon and reveal pics.

So a 12hr round trip today sees me as the new owner of this very clean and very sorted Inferno turbo.

Some of you may recognise the car as it was previously owned by a forum member on here. I’ll see if he comments before I tag him.
So it’s very oem+ mods wise apart from the engine and has been well looked after and had money spent on it. The most recent of which have been a set of coilovers, not the best ones but they’ll do for now.
Plans will follow soon after I’ve given it a good clean as it’s minging from the drive home.

Had a bit of a quick mess about with the inferno today and began to remove some of 90/00s spec mods of that the previous owner has done… Bonus points to whoever can guess what they were!
I’ll do a proper update when I get to spend some serious time on her.

Had any interest in the BG yet? I'm guessing the inferno has had an owner or two since Mark then?
Yeah loads but no one has turned up with the cash as yet! Had a forum member planned for yesterday evening and someone else today but one backed out last minute and the other was a no show.
It’s a shame to see it just sat there to be honest when someone could be getting the use out of it!
I think the guy I brought it from was the person who got it from @Mbeau as he sent me the thread link for it.

Spent some time on the Inferno this afternoon, mainly to look at the camber issues on the cheap coil overs as seen in pic below.

Jacked it up an wheels off…

And here lies the problem… Cheap!!
I managed to get the camber bolt adjusted and nipped up tight so hopefully I won’t get any issues. I did the other side also to match but will need to get an alignment check at some point. I’ve posted the black Turini’s in marketplace to fund a new suspension setup though, I’m thinking b14s but recommendations welcomed though.

I also took some time to carry out a couple other changes. The shortest stumpy ariel I’ve ever seen which offers zero radio signal replaced with a cheap halfrauds jobbie.

Finally the mod everyone loves to hate… Ph1 lights!

For the 1st time I’m not completely sold on them! Loved them on the Monaco and the BG but against the orange I’m not convinced.

I’ve also decided that I’m going to remove the stainless decat Ashley exhaust system in favour of the Milltek which is currently fitted on the BG.

More updates soon…

Are they the raceland/ktec coilovers? Load of shite they are.
Yeah ktec ones I believe. The previous owner told me that the shocks fitted were leaking and b14 weren’t available from ktec so he had to get these in time for his mot! How true that is I don’t know! Hopefully my 2nd set of turinis sell an then I’ll use the funds for suspension upgrades, This will include new coilovers, pms mounts and brace along with a whiteline arb.

The ph1’s in all their marmite glory!
They’re growing on me the more I look at them! I just can’t stand the chrome blob in the middle of the ph2 lights

Those lights looked great on the BG, also agree not a massive fan on the Inferno, to much blend imo. Loving the local AV plate :)

Maybe in person they look better, can't decide if it blends in too much..

Wicked car though.

Great car, (i need to say that as a fellow infernal owner) lights not doing it for me TBH.

They do look better in person than in a photo I must admit but like I said the chrome blob on the standard lights does my head in. I don’t think FK euro lights would be any better tbh?

@Greeny. I think AV was an Ipswich reg code??
My Monaco was AO an that was Norwich code and the car sold at my local dealer in Lowestoft.

So today I set about swapping the exhaust over on the BG and the inferno.
The inferno runs a stainless decat non-resonated system and the BG a decat resonated system. The swap was purely down the not liking the Ashley back box tips.

The Milltek was removed quite easily…
AD17733F-43DE-468E-BBA5-CFEC051B570C.jpeg

Once removed I checked to see if I could find a non-resonated pipe… £100!! Think it can stay as is for now. Also I swapped over my recently acquired Powerflex mounts off the BG too. The ones fitted where Powerflex also but I just preferred mine 😬

Looks soo much better but as usual trying to line up a Milltek and sit right is like mission impossible. The system swap has quietened down the noise considerably but still sounds good on idle. If anyone has a Milltek non-res pipe I’d be interested in it!
I didn’t get the Ashley fitted to the BG today as it smashed it down with rain, it’ll be interesting to see how it sounds on it though.

This morning I received the v5 for the Inferno and instantly set about making the car officially mine, off came the number plates to reveal the horror’s that lie beneath!!
24A260DE-F8F1-4041-B6D9-61F07FEA8FF4.jpeg

I gave the area a quick wipe over with water and then attacked the pads with the tar and glue remover. I had to recover the two holes though to stop water ingress into my boot lid.

Same on the front…
69E0F4F1-D623-4C00-9BBD-20EA1440BDFB.jpeg

New velcro pads and new plates makes the car mine finally!! I’ve gone for 520x90mm on the front and a full size local dealer plate on the rear.
Don’t ask why it’s just what I’ve always done! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Big news I’ve broken the turbo already… Went out for a drive last night and sent it a little too hard! Came out to the car today and saw oil rainbows on the rain soaked floor… Cant see where it’s coming from underneath as it’s everywhere. Plan is to get it booked in with my mechanic to have a look see. Hopefully won’t be too expensive!
Have a picture of it before I broke it…

Hopefully done a deal with some 2118s for my Turini’s also, so least it’ll have decent wheels whilst it broken.
I also saw on FB this morning a video posted featuring the Inferno from 2 years ago when it was with a guy called Motor Addicts.

You said decent wheels. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤮

I hope the cars not too broken mate.
They are the best looking imo but the deal on the 2118s has fallen through due to the op wheels being damaged and me not being able to handle running damaged wheels. The hunt for a swap or sale continues…

Some of you may have seen a post on here and FB regarding oil loss on the turbo clio. After having a proper look around the engine bay and underneath it appear the oil has come out of the breather after some very spirited driving. I topped the engine with oil and have seen no visual loss on the dipstick or the driveway. I will be investing in a catch can and will continue to monitor any oil losses from the engine via the glass on the can until I can get the car booked in to be looked at.

Other updates include the fitment of a connects2 box to allow use of the stork controls which is a must have for me.

Trying to get the oem loom, the connects2 box, the loom part for the headunit with connectors, the patch lead, iPhone usb, mic lead, aerial cable and 2phono leads all tucked into the stupidally small space was a major test of skill and patience! But I’m glad to say it all went in super neatly in the end and am so pleased that it all works properly.

Oh and I had the BG out of the garage today after the exhaust swap was completed.
It sounds so good the video does it absolutely no justice, decat, de-res into a rare Ashley racing rear box!
