My New Volvo 850 T5

Picked this up today as a replacement for the volvo 360.

It’s blue with a blue leather interior and some beautiful fake wood.

It’s a factory manual so getting pretty rare these days. I probably paid too much money for it but you only live once and I’m hoping that these are now creeping up in value.

The drive back was nice but it’s a bit of a barge. Needs some lower profile tyres and probably some lowering springs.

The seller had cleaned the car but I wasn’t happy with it so smashed a few more hours today and am happy with the results.

No, it had two replacement wings.

Great cars, just a shame they were all front drive! They go well, and arent as heavy as one might imagine. Remap required however.

I think they are creeping up to be honest - not many tidy ones about for shed money (what I paid) any more!

Looks surprisingly tidy for its age and the dash reminds me of an old Atari video console.

Always wanted one of these after driving my mate's stripped out S70 T5 with hybrid turbo. The engine note was incredible.
It recorded mid 5's 0-60 at a Silverstone Trax event too so it didn't hang about.

Found a spoiler and some comet wheels for that ‘oem+’ look.

Bought some apex springs to give it a bit of a drop. Should be here early next week hopefully. I know they get slagged on here but most other forums class them as ‘ok’ and they give a 40mm drop for £130 so I’m happy to give them a go!

Also picked up these ‘comet’ alloy wheels. They’re a bit rough around the edges and ideally need a refurb but pass the 10 feet test and for £150 with matching legal tyres I think they’re worth a punt.

Love a set of Comets, they are by far the best wheels for an 850 IMO. It will look great with a bit of a drop, here's my old one on Eibachs and Comets.

If that shows one thing, it's that mobile phone cameras have come a long, long way in twelve years

Can you still get polybushes for the engine top mount? That might have been my cheapest and favourite mod ever. The amount of extra 5-pot engine noise it transmitted into the cabin was absolutely epic - easy to reverse too if you decide you don't like it.

Just need to paint the bonnet release catch in the grille...! I'm after a second grille to do black but keep the chrome surround.

Lovely old boats these. Unfortunately my mother drives volvo estates and she is a t**t so could never drive one for that reason.
