My Skoda. Probably my favourite car for a long time!

I love this little car. It's fantastic!

I washed it after work and took some pics as I've got someone half interested in buying it.

If anyone wants a cheap to run, quick, comfy car I'd thoroughly recommend one. (In red or silver, black is a pain in the f**king ass!)

Mate had a mapped one of these in red, was quick, till the engine went up in smoke on the Cat & Fiddle road.

The engine's a peach for a derv. My mates fitted a hybrid turbo to his golf 130 and it's pretty bonkers now tbh

Is this a facelift Dan? It was my next car before I ended up with a company one. I think they're great, not the last thing in handling but still!

Am I right these map to 200 depending on mods. Bloody quick then
160bhp with a map.

With a different intake, hybrid turbo and some odds and sods, 200+bhp and 400+ft lb of torque.

It goes like stink as standard though. I e yet to drive it and think "this needs more power". It's just got torque everywhere.

I took it on a track day and whilst I agree about the handling day to day, on track it's actually quite good. Everyone that came out in it couldn't believe what I was keeping up with. And it did 25mpg over the whole day! Lol
My Subaru won't do that downhill with the wind behind it let alone on track.

Is it definitely standard? Driven a few and never thought they were that quick

Always found the Fabia Ugly. But did love my Petrol Octavia of a same vintage! It's made me thing the Fabia isn't all that bad after all... especially in black!

Dan isn't lying, they aren't that bad handling! The fast Skodas got better suspension works etc. than the equivalent MK4 Golf GTi at the time.

That PD130 engine is the most reliable diesel engine vw make.

Excellent cars. Love them with Octavia wheels!

That looks tidy.

They can get to a lot more than 200bhp...I got torn a new one at Bedford recently by one running north of 250bhp...had a turbo from a Toureg on it apparently.

Went like stink, left monumental clouds of soot in the air behind it though!

Mines £3k and it's as good as anything out there.

Hmmm, not sure. I assume so??
It can keep up with my mates MCS up until about 80mph.
Unless it's wet. Driving a tdi hard in the wet is pointless. Zero traction as soon as it picks up.
We had one in the family from new for about 8yrs. Wasn't 1*2 pace.

Brilliant things all round. I was so close to buying one in 2005, but borrowed one for the day and couldn't drive it without getting monumental back ache after a while. Think that was more me than the car though.

I've always thought that generation of Fabia was quite handsome.
Same market as a Panda 100hp. Better/Worse?

Totally different kettle of fish. Polar opposites tbh. Panda is more fun, but built like a bag of Crisps, has the ride quality of a torture device, and wouldn't see which way the Skoda went.

Looks like I'll have to look at remapping my Passat as well then! Generic tuning box or take it somewhere? Not clued up on diesels...

Nice motors. I like how the new one has gone back to this general shape. No vRS though. Shame. Anyway.

Don't some places remap these to around 190bhp? I've thought about getting one of these a few times.

I've been wondering if selling my Jetta is a good idea having had the 182 for a couple of weeks now. It's so easy to drive and much more comfortable.
With the Hybrid turbo, it's also a fair bit quicker once off the line...... I do love the noise though of the 182 (JMS RS2), that is the biggest downside really.
If anyone is interested in what these cars can do, take a look at darkside developments, they do turbo upgrade packages that'll take the power to over 300bhp.

I've been thinking about getting an Audi A5 3.0TDi next, aftermarket exhaust sounds amazing on these (not diesel like at all), and a remap will take them to around 290bhp.
