UPDATE
she is almost ready to drop in
ill let the pics do the talking
once i was happy with the do-it-yourself head porting, i took advantage of the in house parts washer (strangely my mum had no problem with this :S)
came out nice and clean
next started to tidy up things, block went from this
to this, a few coats of hammerite later
once that was sorted it was now the dreaded task of fitting honda fireblade motorbike throttle boddies onto a renault 1.6 16v cylinder head..
4 bits of alloy tube and a modified inlet saw some progress
so thats a rough mock up now just gotta make a round pipe fit a almost square hole and weld it to a modified inlet manifold...
i machined the inside of the tube out to match the diameter of the itb's then squashed the ends in the vice, leaving 15mm at the end to aid matching once welded together, heres a look down through one
while the inlet manifold was away being welded, i decided to paste the valves in.. time seemed to stand still when i was doing this. concidering the state of the inlet seats i decided to take the exhaust valves out aswell. they were worse, and while valves were out i cleaned up the casting marks in the port, not taking the kind of material out that i did on the inlet, just making it smoother for air flow.
the head was also sent away and i got 0.5mm skimmed off
the block was cleaned with 600 grit paper and dw-40 (yes dw-40, ripp off of wd-40 much)
then it was finally time to put things together
new water pump
new head gasket
new timing belt
ohh and i painted the rocker cover green, it is the green machine after all
proud of my itb's
and dont worry the alternator setup isnt finished yet :rasp:
just gotta sort the mounting for it and thats about it the engine can go in the car
cant wait
