Need a trailer to carry my 172

Don't know wether this is the right section, but its the best i could think of :)

I need to buy a trailer, preferably sub £500 to carry my 172 securely. (ie strapped down)

It needs to be braked, have the facility for electrics (lights etc) and it would be even better if it was able to carry something a little bigger (say astra/megane size)

Any recomendations? Any ideas where i should start looking?

I've tried Ebay but tbh, the stuff on there is either fit for scrap or waaaaaay overpriced.

I've bought myself a towcar, but atm, i'm missing a trailer!! D'oh!

You will be very lucky to get a trailer for that much thats any good! I paid £300 for mine, its not a branded one, homemade jobbie, i spent about £300 on it, new wheels and tyres, all new electrics, getting supports etc welded on! and it is unbraked! ok as long as you take it steady!

I would say ebay is the best place to look!

My grandad bought an ifor williams one to tow behind his american RV, had a pug 207 on it, I think he paid £1500 brand new. Really well put together, I reckon £750 would get you a used one.

Theres a fair few on the freeads mate, alot without pics though. You can get a ropey one for about £250, basically a caravan chassis with mini wheels or you can spend abit more and get one that is galvanised and braked.
This one caught my eye, bit over budget but they may come down.

Cool,

see if I could get something like that for say 7/750 then that would, in my eyes, be a much better purchase.

Loads on ebay, some of them I wouldn't even rest a pint on though.

Caravan chassis is a good bet for that sort of money. For example I have a caravan which is pretty much beyond use because of damp etc, but it has a perfectly good braked galvanised chassis. 14ft long single axle. The van sold complete is probably worth 200 quid max but stripping all the cr*p off it and turning it into a useable trailer would see more of a return. Might be worth a look :)

was approx £1300. Tho it wasnt wide enoguh for my 182, a few inches short!
