New 197 owner

Hi there

I am about to become part of the cliosport mob! I put a deposit down today on a black 197 with a few extras inc recaros, tinted windows and the upgraded headunit/speakers.

I'm coming from a Fiesta ST, whilst a decent little car, it's just too crashy for British B Roads and doesn't impose confidence in cornering.

Longed for the 197 since test driving one in January so have now bought a slightly used one from Camden Dunstable.

Can't wait to get it next week, it's like a kid at christmas all over again!

Yeah I think it is quicker than the ST in a straight line, not by miles but fairly comfortably. I think through twisties though the clio will easily beat it, at higher speeds the ST just doesn't inspire confidence to push it so you tend to not go as far as it would be able to. It feels a lot quicker though as the power band was so linear it was the same all the way upto the redline.

Black is by far the best i have a metallic pearl black 02 172 it is beautiful. I don't know how the 197 handles compared to the smaller clio sports. But i know it is a beautiful car in black. Good choice...

I live in Ampthill, so not far at all away from Bedford, MK etc, so shall try my best to come to the next meet.

Yea it was the demo car they had there, gave me a good price for it and my fiesta so was hard to refuse...I just hope you lot that drove it didn't abuse it too much, that's my job hehe.

I sat in that when looking into purchasing an R26. I live just round the corner from Camden. The 2 things I instantly liked was the seats and gear change feel (gear change felt a bit like my old Puma short and quick). I did'nt drive it so I could'nt comment on that as I took a 225 out. But a lovely car and I almost enquired about it but i'm focusing on something bigger when I next change cars.

Wow! White crusty dog s**t, not seen since the summers of the 1980's! (either that or I spend less time on the streets poking dog poo with twigs)

I'm still waiting for the meggy's to come down in price. The mothers aren't budging much from the £10k mark. I'd have thought they'd be cheaper now as they're getting on for 3 years old.

Seriously?! Alright, it does sound like a wind-up so don't laugh at me if it is, but that sounds awful! I mean I know they put some s**t in human food, never mind dog food. But chalk?! Ground down limestone? Bits of rock?!

I'm looking at maybe getting a 197 but would only consider a black one with Anthracite wheels. Is the R27 the only option then as I ain't forking out that wedge for one? Also, it looks like you can only get a 4x15W stereo if you have the Recaros, is this right?
