Thanks
Simon

caserta80 Looking at that, prices are not too bad really. All is required and you may get it a little cheaper elsewhere (£250 for a Bimarco seat).

Or buy a ready made car!

Not saying that the prices are value for money as I know the suspension make is something I wouldn't want myself.

Obvious ways to save to me are:

Seat - get used, for racing it doesn't need to be in date, that's only for rallying. £300 saved
Roll cage - buy the parts for about £300 and get a competent welder to make it up. £200 saved
Second hand steering wheel. £70 saved
Bias valve isn't essential if my reading of regs is correct, but if you wanted it I bet it could be found cheaper. £40? saved
Aerocatches go for £30 on ebay. £30 saved

Race series like that will always promote low costs. but add ARDs, race wear, helmet, tyres, fuel, servicing, repairs, etc etc. they will cost you a lot lot more.

Yeh this is what I thought but with regards to all mechanical work i can do this im fully qualified and can weld, got all the tools and gear its just the cost of buying and building the car was a lot more than projected.

but hey that's racing ! im still game.

If anyone else is interested in helping out/joining in im in st.ives Cambridgeshire the more the merrier.

Cheers
Simon

Again, all depends on what you want to do racing wise.
In our Tricolre Trophy series, we run a production class, very little needs to be done to the car, except of course the usual stuff, cut off switch, fire extinguisher.and roll cage.
AdamG on here built one, and races, even still has the aircon in lol.
