New exhaust on the Trophy

A week or two back I finally got my exhaust made and fitted by the team at Pro-Speed in Cardiff. And what a fantastic job they did, too. Charlie really did me and the 'T' proud and I'm chuffed with the results... both the sound and the improved responsiveness.

Before I post up a few pics I'd like to say "thanks" to Evandim* for taking my car to/from Pro-Speed whilst I got called away to work in Germany. :D I couldn't wait to get back home to see/hear it and I wasn't disappointed when she picked me up from the airport in it...

Apologies for not polishing it but I've been out enjoying it instead...

Cheers!

Cheers guys.

Yes mate - agreed - fits perfectly! It does indeed have a 100 cell sport cat and it sounds fantastic. Not too loud, and not really any louder than the stock item when cruising at motorway speeds. But give it a bit of dixie and it barks into life nicely.

I'm looking to get the bullet cams off a mate soon so will post up when I've got some vids.

Looks Great and Fits perfectly.......Is the system cold in the pics as I guess it sticks out a bit once it gets hot?

Cheers all for the comments - much appreciated.

Yeah, the system is cold mate. Mind you, even after a hammering at a recent practice day the exhaust still sat as seen in the pics, i.e. flush with the bodywork.

Looks great Andy and fits so well. How noisy is it compared to standard? It looks like a really snug fit.
Hiya mate - thanks for the comment. :D

When stood idling the exhaust note is a fair bit deeper than standard, with a slight 'burble' to it. It's not loud by any means although I would say it is louder than the stock item.

When driving normally in everyday traffic (and not taking it to the redline) it's - again - louder than stock (but not massively). The biggest noise nuisance I find with the Trophy is and always has been the road noise.

Crusing at motorway speeds the system is comparable with stock in terms of noise level (5th gear, 70-75mph). Mind you, the slightest movement on the gas pedal does result in quite a deep note which *is* a fair bit louder than stock. Drive it steady though and there's no problem and, when safe to do so, give it some beans and it sounds the nuts.

When giving it some dixie and taking it to the redline the system is obviously louder than the stock exhaust. However, you tend not to give a toss as the system has a nice bass-like bark to it as the revs rise towards the redline... Overrun sounds pretty good, too.

To summarise, drive steady (normal) and the difference is negligible. Drive 'with spirit' and it makes you smile. :D To put things into perspective the other weekend I drove it near on 700 miles (accompanying Evandim in her Type-R) up to and around Yorkshire. I didn't have a single issue with the sound / noise.

Edit: As soon as I can get hold of a video camera I'll post up some vids.
