New Gearbox is awful.

Had a new one put in not so long ago, IMO it's getting shitter everyday, complete git to get into 2nd unless i ram it in unless fully warmed up 15mins+ of driving, and it has notches when changing into 3rd and aint very smooth.

I've heard the gear linkage can be adjusted, and i have no idea wha oil was put in, but it was done by a specialist who is highly recomended on here, so can't imagine they'd have bodged it.

The linkage could have moved since (not tightened properly) or the box oil is bad when cold. Ask them what brand of box oil they used - the jc5 has a specially designed oil for it.

if the linkage has moved the gear stick usually doesn't centre.... i would change the oil for the Recommended grade...

Echo the above, i put the wrong stuff in the old 172 and it wasn't all that forgiving when cold!

mines always a bit touch getting it into 2nd when its cold it prefers me to take it to 4k revs then change into 2nd every other gear i change at 3k but once its warm its beautiful im using silkolene pro race oil

get yourself a rs dog box out of a cup carr they are a bit tougher, shouldnt eat a dox box like standard one, ps maybe drive slower lol

Strange. I give my 182 loads, previously had a 172 for 3 yrs, never had any gearbox problems. Must have done about 70k in both cars so far, noworries i can think of?
