New to Forum (and Renault) on the hunt for a 182 CUP

Hello all. Looks like a great forum, already paid for full membership as i'm sure it'll be well worth it for all the resources.

I'm on the hunt for a 182 CUP as a daily with a bit of track use hopefully.

Normally i'm a old aircooled VW guy but wanted something to get my blood moving a bit, and this seems like the right choice.

Cheers

Don’t rule out regular 182s as well - those with the Cup spoiler and suspension packs are virtually the same but a nicer place to be overall.
Thanks Tim. Yes your'e right.. I will amend the title. Still getting my head around the different variants.

Well you could either buy one for £2,000 and then spend a further £2,000 getting it up to scratch
Or buy one where somebody else has already done it and you’ve nothing to do.
Always budget at least £1,000 of work when you buy one of these cars.

Words fail me!

Is it the wrong colour?

Once behind the wheel, you won`t notice.

Actually I’m after a pink one.

Don’t get upset if your car in not the right choice for everyone.
But as you asked, the reasons it does not tick my boxes are the clocks change without accurate mileage, de-cat (this would have to be changed back for my purpose) and the fact you’re in Merseyside which is further than I’m willing to travel. Is that ok?

I completely agree with your budget of £1000 to get the car up to scratch(which generally can be spread over a few months). However this does not change the fact that I do not want to spend 4K on getting one.
Many people, myself included do actually enjoy working on their car to get them up to scratch and working on a newly purchased car is a good way to get to know it. As a result I don’t tend to buy completely “sorted” cars as it’s not my thing. Each to their own ehh.

It`s not my bloody car, nor do I have any association with the seller.

My reply to you was I reference you your “words fail me”.

I did not know that it wasn’t your car but it makes no difference. As it’s clear you didn’t understand why it wasn’t the right car for me, I had to explain.

Oh dear,

Liverpool is so so so far from Watford, the fact the seller even mentioned the clocks displays some integrity, and for a man who professes that he likes to tinker,

putting a cat back on should not prove a job too many.

What I see is a road legal proven trackable 182, with belts done recently, uprated Spax suspension, loads of spare wheels with tyres, a recent clutch, at a not

unreasonable price, with a new MOT.

The fact that there is a new MOT suggests that there may be a cat about, even if it`s in the boot.

With 15 year old cars, buy on condition, not on miles, and I don`t mean because it`s shiny, there are plenty of polished turds about.

You Southern baxxxrds are so soft.

I can say that as I`m up North in Luton.
