Hi,

I have recently sold my MK6 Escort RS2000 2.3L and am now going to buy a Clio either a williams or a 1.8 16v

Can someone please tell me what major advantages the Williams has over the 16v as performance wise the figures claim they are virtually the same.


Also I have been told by a lot of non renault drivers to expect a lot of problems and for them to be expensive to maintain. Can someone please let me know some of the common problems and also dispell the rumours that they are problematic??

Welcome to the club. Isnt the williams a 2ltr and have better suspension. I would get the williams mate, they look the nads!

Williams has a wider track and much more low down torque....

Valver - 1.8 16v 137bhp (varies depending where you read)
Williams - 2.0 16v 150bhp

If you can afford a williams over a valver then go for it.

Williams are generally better looked after than valvers and are usually standard or very close to standard.

Id go for the Williams over the valver everytime, altho decent ones are getting harder to find.

To be honest im pretty set on the williams, whats the best one to get 1,2 or 3. I have been in a 1 and 2 and cant see any difference between the 2. What numbers of each were made??
