Noise from left side of engine bay, aux belt tensioners/pulleys? plus vid

  ph quick
Noticed my cars become a bit whiney recently, tried to take a vid of it but with the wind etc its hard to pick it up but it can be heard at around 20secs...

The noise seems to be coming from the left side but is also quite loud over the middle of the engine if you put your ear to it...

Im assuming this could be the aux belt from reading on here and looking through my service history it looks like it may have never been changed, no stamp at 36k for some reason but all the rest are there inc the cambelt at 64, cars now at 78ish...

Problem is im 100miles from home now so im probably gonna have to drive it back, ive been on the blower to reno who want 200 for labour, parts on top but i can get the kit with the tensioner quite cheap

Does this sound like teh aux pulleys/tensioner failing and if i assume its the small ones in the kit and the tensioner that are usually the ones that fail?

Any help would be great

Dont sound very nice..I saw a thread where you get a bit of hose and put one bit to your
ear and the other end you can listen to the various parts an pin point where the noise is comming from...sorry if thats no help whatsoever..lol.

Had a few people take a look today, they seem to think it could be the alternator, but as its hard to hear cant be sure, none of the pulleys are getting hot when running except the two alloy ones attached to the engine...

Anyone got any ideas...?

I still think its worth a shot changing the aux belt tensioner so ive ordered the kit into the local renault and will fit that when i get back, fair price too...

I reckon it could be the idler wheel at the bottom, or the tensioner. If the car has had a cambelt then its proberly had an alternator belt but most people just change the belt, not the tensioner or idler. Top tip would be to listen with a screw driver at verious bits and see where is noiser.

Cheers, thats what we did yesterday and there was defo something around the alternator and possibly the tensioner but its not quite loud enough to pinpoint
