numberplate sticky pad removal

Does anyone know what the best was to remove the sticky pads that hold the numberplate on? Ive had trouble with this before on previous cars and can be a messy job :dapprove: ive heard tar and bug remover helps?


Any ideas?

Heat it up slightly with a heat gun, and use some white spirit maybe?

Will a hairdryer be good enough for this?

Bit of heat from a hair dryer and maybe some wd40 to loosen up the pads abit?

will try out the tar remover method first, as i already have that and my garage doesnt have power :dapprove:

i heated them up slightly then put ag tar remover on and it did the job

well that was the easyest sticky pad removal ever they just peeled off :approve:

wd40 gets everything off..... but always wash it off when ya done..and dont get it near tyres/brakes

Just changed my plates today too - what a b*ll*x!!

Took ages to get those double sided things off, thankfuly I had bought heavy duty velcro pads for the new plates

WD40, warm soapy water & sponge to remove it all and some white spirit to clean the surface before applying the new pads.
