Oblivion: Dark Brotherhood

Just a quick question...

I've joined the Dark Brotherhood and my first quest is to go talk to some guy to get a "job". The marker on the map leads me to a well in one of the towns but I need a key to open it? How do I get the key?

If it's in the main place of the brotherhood where you go into the basement of the abandend house then could anyone remind me where the abandend house is because I can't find it! haha

I don't want to search about on the net for the answer because I know I'm going to end up with a guide/walkthrough and once I've found one then the temptation to use it will be too high and spoil the game...

yup, abandoned house is the slower way of getting in, but you need to go that way before they give you the key to the well. These are by far the best missions in the game too, loved the DB quests

Just finished Oblivion last week on the 360... 200+ hours :S

haha I must say...this game is fantastic and I would even go so far as to say it's better than Final Fantasy 7!! I blasted through all the arena ones...they were so easy...specially the Grand Champion...he didn't try to fight me cos he was upset about being half vampire so I filled his head with arrows! haha

Only had the game a week and played for a few hours, not done any of the actual storyline yet, just doing all the sub missions and exploring the ruins and caves etc...

Joined the fighters, mage and thieves guild too but haven't done any of thier missions yet..

bah, not bothered, it's 200 hours over 8 months... it's the most time I think I have ever spent on one game lol.

Rhino, do one guild at a time, some have a conflict of interest, I wont spoil it for you by saying which and where, but trust me, it's better to do one at a time. I did the guilds first too, I think the main quest only took me 10 hours from start to finish as my character was that 'ard by then.

I've got this on PC too, the only advantage is mods, but it's the same game and graphically the PC is miles behind unless you have a grands worth of video card alone...

yeah I was planning on doing them one at a time anyway...going to do all the Brotherhood ones first then the fighters, then mage then thieves as I'm not too fussed about those ones..

Oblivion is a superb game.. you just got to give it a bit of time to get into it.. everyone had raved about it ages ago so I chucked it in the 360 and was like WTF is this POS ?? but I actually kept playing..

I've only done about 60 hours on it, but im gonna have to restart it to unlock the theives guild as I killed some folk early on for a laugh.. damn it !!

haha cheers I'm such a tool! For some reason I was adament it wasn't in the same place so I spent ages going to all the other towns and walking about in every little nook and cranny apart from thr one with the well!

anyone collected all the Nirnroots yet? First quest I took on...I got 10 and took them to the bloke but now he wants 20 of the little buggers! I've got about 16 now I think...getting bit thin on the ground these things...

yeah I know...they make a funny noise as you get near them...just get bored of looking for them

Yeah done the Nirnroots one, I just continued with the game and picked them up when I saw them.

What level is everyone on this? I'm on 36 at the moment, leaving it for the moment just waiting for the new add on pack and I've bought Knights of the Nine too, but not started it... just got Worms of XBL so playing that at the moment... nostalgia

level 6 haha! I've got a fair way to go...my luck never seems to increase though?!? Is this just something thats fixed or will I be getting some of that later on in the game?

level 16 found it really hard to start with but found out at about 60 hours that it was set to the hardest

Luck goes up one at a time if you bother increasing it when you level up... I've not bothered with mine and I get good loot from caves etc, so it can't be all bad.

You need to be level 17+ to get anything good from the game imo, the sigil stones are related to your level, iirc 17 and above you get the better effects. The game is too easy, but you can make it harder, I put it all the way up on the skill level and ditched my light armour to get my heavy armour skill up... makes a fair bit of difference!

well my luck has been on 50 from the start and I'v never had the options of increasing it which is a bit odd...Think the difficulty is just under halfway up on mine...might have to crank it up a bit more...

I've got loads of money...I've not actually bought anything yet...just nicked stuff and sold it and sell all the weapons and amour etc that I've taken from dead guys

haha how the hell did you kill him? He just turned up and started chatting to me (after I shot some stable kid in the back with my bow and arrow!) couldn't do anything but talk to him...then he just went invisable and fooked off

:quiet: say no more!!! (don't wanna spoil the game for myself!) I've not got a clue what your on about or where it is sounds interesting though

yeah, dont kill Lucian, not really a good idea if you wanna do all the DB quests... which are amazingly well thought out and interesting.

oh and as for your luck, you can increase it by 1 point each time you level up

ironically enough you'd have got it anyway... Mehrune's Razor and Umbra are better anyway... or you can make your own sword. I made one with 40 fire damage and an area effect, just burns them to bits and sends em flying, so called it Vindaloo

Yeah it's useful as hell being able to kill them and eat their souls to put in gems... I've just recently used up all my Sigil stones on the Umbra armour to make it a bit better too, quite impressed
