Oh, the joys!

  306 GTI-6
Well, I bought my first Clio on Sunday. In fact its only the second car I have owned, the previous being an E reg Audi 80s, nicknamed "Sherman" 'cos it weighed as much and drove like one thanks to no power steering!

I promptly joined ClioSport.net as I figured it would be an invaluable source of information and a good way of getting into Clio ownership, more than just actually owning one.

So far I would like to thank everyone on the site as I have already used your knowledge and experience to help me with a couple of things. It is good to see there are so many helpful people on here, and that there is a good general sense of humour sprinkled throughout all the threads and posts.

Less than a week in and I have already encountered my first problem with my car! The bloody external temp sensor seems to be playing up, giving me a constant reading of -2deg. Now I know I am living up in the north east of Scotland, but its not quite that cold at this time of year. Once it stops p*ssing it down I am gonna check the sensor and dry any moisture that might be trapped in the mirror casing.

Already I am looking at all the different mods that have been done by people, and thinking, ooh that looks good, or wtf? PLanning to do some subtle things to mine just to make it a bit unique (well hopefully).
I will eventually get some pics up when the weather is better.

Basically though, this site is the proverbial dogs danglies!

  RB 200 Cup!
i found when i used to tuck my mirrors in when parking it upset the temp sensor - dnt do it anymore and the sensor is fine.

excellent choice of model btw -lol!

Thanks mate, you managed to sell yours yet? Was a bit gutted as I wanted a black one, but this was the only 1.6 for sale anywhere near me. If I had seen yours before i bought this I would have made you an offer.

Am still trying to decide whether to lower mine using just springs or to save and get a full kit. Also think I am gonna go with some 16" Renault alloys as opposed to aftermarket, keep it looking a bit more standard.

havent sold yet - mines lowered on 35mm Ultimate springs from Ktec - do the job perfectly with performance and looks. cost bought 80 quid all in

It wont be the last problem you will encounter either!!

Hows that then??

Touch wood mines been fine to date and iv had it more than a year.

Even my two previous mk1's (1.2 and 1.816v/2.016v) didnt give me much hassle. It depends on what you buy and how you look after it i guess!!!

As above, mines been fine, they are good cars for the money the 1.2 16v, and despite the odd rattle they are still alot better built than the 106/ saxo/ corsa etc.

Haha, have you not been paying attention to people's Clio problems on here? :rasp:

Our cars are not the best built things in the world is all im saying!

Still if you treat it with respect, shouldn't be too bad. :)

(and I have a dodgy engine rattle and it's only done 39k!)

Hoorah!

My temp sensor problem seems to be sorted (at the moment)

I whipped off the mirror backplate, had a look at the wiring which seemed ok, dried the inside with a cloth, then sprayed a bit of WD-40. Also disconnected battery, left it for 3 mins, and now it seems to be working. Like it reset its slef or something. I shall be keeping a close eye on it from now on though.
