OK, where's the injector cover then?

Just got car back from dealers after latest bit of warranty work. it'd developed a very loud metallic rattle just as it passed 3k revs, then disappeared again. I suspected a loose heatshield (that's what it sounded like).

Garage report says it was "injector cover loose".

1/ What part is the injector cover?
2/ Is it feasible that it could've been loose?
3/ Should something like this come loose without any outside "assistance"? i.e. could've it been off at some point in the past and not been reattached properly?

Service dept was closed by the time I got there so nobody there to ask!

I've nicked the pic of an engine bay (hope the owner doesn't mind) if someone wouldn't mind pointing it out.

The bit in red on the attahed picture.
It might have worked loose its a Renault. If it fixes the problem forget about it.

Just pissed off it had to go in the garage again - 11th time since January this year. Completely and utterly disillusioned at owning this f**king car at the moment. Great when it goes, but that's becoming less and less of the time...

You have to remove ths cover to gain access to the oil filter,
so last service maybe???? good old renault techs!!!!

Nah you don't - I changed the oil filter and oil personally last time and can verify that. It's a bugger to do with the cover in place but easily possible. My car gets serviced by an independent garage anyway as I don't trust my local Renault ones (only goes to Renault for warranty work).

its mainly here incase you have a large front end colision, protects the plastic ful rail from breaking on impact

I'd not heard it called an "injector cover" before. If they'd said "fuel rail guard" I'd have known...
