Ollie's Silver Cup - JMS RS2/Wilwood/2118

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

i want my iceberg to look like this.... its no fair!!

What do you use to get it looking soooo shiney?

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

well unfortunately i think it's a bit annoying you photoshop all the pictures as said above, we can't really tell how shiny it is due to all the filter's you're using!

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

I wish I'd kept my 2118's when I had my Iceburg ph1, they would've looked awesome with the drop I was running

You've by far got my vote for best iceburg on here, its a truely stunning example.

As for the brake pornography..... how are you finding the super blue fluid? I had it in my mini running standard discs and pads, I found it took a while to get the fluid upto operating temperature but once it was heated slightly the pedal was great

I've got brembo discs and ds2500 pads on the standard trophy brakes, its running goodridge braided hoses so I'm thinking of getting somemore super blue and running it through just to make the pedal better

Love the 2118's mate! very nice!

Thanks!

Once it's polished up and waxed, I'm really impressed with shine on it; with a bit of work it's easy enough to produce a nice deep shine on the paint.

With regards the photos; there's only one 'filter' used on the photos and that's sharpen - unsharp mask.

As you've pointed out, obviously this will deepen the colour and make it look richer than an unprocessed file :)

Lovely car ... I want it :(

Cheers! :D

I'm really liking the brake set-up; As I've mentioned before I went from the standard set-up to this, so the difference feels huge! I've never used the ATE without 4 pots, but from what I can tell, it's very good! Seems to work well :approve:

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

MOT tomorrow; thought I had a little longer, but never mind, therefore it's being MOT'd the day before it runs out :clown:

I'm expecting new rear wheel bearing will be needed, as I'm getting that lovely whine/drone sound when sitting at around the speed limit :dead: (and no, it's not the K-Tec stealth :rasp: )

I think the track rod ends could do with being replaced soon too tbh, as the steering feels a little 'loose' at times. Looking through the service history, it appears to have been done a couple of years ago, but will check it anyway :)

As I've mentioned before, after this is out of the way, I'll be starting with some more interesting bits :evil:

Updates from my last media thread may as well be posted in here now too;

Just awaiting DPD delivering some new detailing goodies (more supernatural, more snow foam, more wheel cleaner) Giving the supernatural shampoo a go this time too, so hoping for good things! Shame the weather's so s**t or I could have given it a try today! :dapprove:

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

Thanks for the comments! :)

I've been out again (although it's now raining, so given up) but a new wheel bearing's needed - drivers side rear.

I'll get that sorted tomorrow before the car's MOT'd :)

Doesn't feel like I've had the car a year already :eek:

The day after I picked it up;

6 months into owning it, with new turinins, coilovers, etc;

And after roughly 1 year ownership;

Really happy with how it's progressed :)

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

Left the car for it's service and MOT :)

Fingers crossed it only needs a new wheel bearing :eek:

Jealous!

This car is sooooooooooooooooooo nice!

I want one now..

Awesome work mate.

Thanks! :)

who does the 3/4 front plate?

Fancy plates; there's a pretty comprehensive guide on here, in the guides section :)

Cheers! :D

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

Both rear wheel bearings were replaced this morning; offside was pretty bad, nearside wasn't too bad at the moment, but needed doing ideally.

So two new wheel bearings later and the cup flew through it's MOT with no problems! :cool:

Now that it's the out the way (along with tax and insurance this/last month too), I can concentrate on getting my new engine bits :approve:

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

Car looooks so so sweet mate, ive just got my hands on a iceberg 172 and join up here today and can only say that i hope mine looks half as good as yours when im done.

And can i say ive just spent about an hour reading very part of your thread.

Can i ask where and who did you get your carbon badges from (front renault front one, and rear clio one)?

And have you seen the carbon gel resin number plates? Think that would look pretty sweet on yours with the carbon parts you already have. have a look

I've seen similar before, but not really a fan of them tbh; I think it's the raised lettering.

You can get proper carbon ones that are flat too, which is literally a piece of carbon cut to size and then a reflective vinyl over the top; the vinyl has the lettering cut out to show the carbon backing :)

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

Not really an update in terms of modifications, but it's now got some protection on it ready for the winter; http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?540591-Mini-detail...interrupted-by-rain!&highlight=

Got quite a bit I'd like to get done over the winter/before the summer...

I'm still at the point where I'm trying to decide whether to go for throttle bodies or the JMS intake; I can think of a long list of pro's for each!! :dapprove: As I've posted previously, now my MOT/tax/insurance is out the way for another year, I'd like to look at sorting this next! De-cat will go on at the same time, along with some silicone hoses to tidy up the engine bay a little more most likely :)

The hubs still need cleaning up, which I'll get around to eventually and I want to buy new wheel nuts (possibly the iridescent looking ones, thoughts?)

I've also found a couple of photos on my camera from a while back; more of the same, but I thought they looked pretty good! :evil:

Really, I've never seen them! I may have to have a hunt around the Internet and see if I can find them, or give speedline a call if not :)

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project

I got mine off of ebay, brand new for £5 :)

The seller had bought a box of them iirc and was selling them off; think it was just lucky timing, as I've not seen them again
