Oops I did it again... Adey's Clio 200 EDC

  Clio RS 200
@Adey. I notice that you have the

Vgate Vlinker cable. I know from you video that is working as you manage to connect to the Renolink but It has the different chip and not the PIC18F25K80 recommended for that. I bought a cable but it doesn't work... Do you think the Vgate cable what you have will work with ddt4all and connect to the car without any problems as I do not have the Renault software?

oh sweet, did you get RS monitor back on there?
Yes it was already there. Don't know what I did but the radio have all settings stored. I write them again in MFD but nothing... I did all again and nothing. Than I went to Audio settings Radio2012 and click the write there and it all come alive... But no sound 🤦‍♂️ check the settings again, hard reset, disconnect battery still no sound. The last thing I could try was disconnect the Powerbox 65.4 amp as I remember when I fitted that had same/similar issue and disconnecting it from the unit behind glovebox and connecting again did work so lock the car, went home for about 10min to get tools ,drink something and when I went back to the car start the engine to move car it started to work 😁 So all good in the end

very nice car and spec(y) clio 4 rs is a underrated car, very playfull chassis with predictable lifoff oversteer (cup pack)

just to help, that colour (rouge flame its called) has a colourcoded clearcoat. so look out with polishing, if you polish to long on one place it turns to orange and its really hard to get resprayed right shade of red. furthermore the UV protection isnt great ( like most red paints) colour will fade eventually sadly(or store it inside) mostly starts at the spoiler first .

i am sorry this has not much to do with youre buildthread , but i like to warn/help you before its to late and you polished a scratch.
renault has NO good touch-up pens either, i taught they even discontinued these cause the touch-up made it pink.

how do i know... i work at a renault dealership and seen lots of stock clio 4 ,kadjar ,captur , turning orange due to UV lighting (sun) or after ''proffesional'' polishing turning orange

should i remove my post ?so if he sells it on not everyone is gonna inspect every angle of the car for different shades?

im sorry i just try to help.

edit: it will not turn pink ,but red with orange. the renault touch-up make it pink / turns pink ( for stone chips etc)

maybe they changed the UV protection over the years cause renault still uses this colour to this day since 2013 (clio 4 introduction)
RS came later than stock clio 4 , maybe Adey's is a late model year..

good thing you guys clean it under there (y) . the wiper mechanism sometimes gets stuck due to rust and moisture , then its almost solid and cant move . doesnt happen many times but can happen on clio 4 (and is fixable with some time invisted). atleast it hasnt got the clio 3 problem getting play on the mechanism and damaging your bonnet.

After booking on for a full day at CSF I thought id get back on the adjustable top mount thing, you may remember I ordered some before Christmas through Ktec racing, who bailed and couldn't even provided a delivery date. I went direct to Compbrake who had them too me in under 2 weeks. Had another issue with their customer service but the product was here and ready to fit. (they quote supply of a hole saw in multiple places on the website though they no longer send them and say the never have, annoying as it added an extra days wait to do the job over the weekend)

Using the suppled cutting guides I chopped into the shock towers to allow for adjustment, though once set these will be covered by the scuttle. Nice bit of kit, need to get on some ramps to get them aligned and setup. Opted for the ones that fit with oem style springs and shocks.

First drive on them tomorrow so we will see if there's much extra road noise and how they feel.

Mine seized on mine, as you say they get stuck solid and snap. Relatively easy and quite cheap to replace though so not the end of the world.

normally they only snap if you ( the person) accindently breaks by trying to lose it up. if had them even when the motor stops working (eventually burn out) but not break.. so first for me hearing that (y) . if the mechanism break you can throw it away, but if mechanism is still one piece it is fixable . can make a guide for interested (eventough it isnt rocketscience , and some cleaver people here)

I've been a big advocate of these clios and their gearboxs, how well i think they work when bimbling to work or going hard on track...

That was until this week. Had a dreaded check gearbox error twice one morning, with one of them requiring a restart to get out of limp mode. Id been expecting it for a while as there's a common issue with battery condition and gearbox hissy fits.

New battery on, and some how It managed to loose some setting for the tpms which then put the dash into an error state. Took about an hour of faffing to find the issue and code it again. Was basically because I'd switched off tpms but that battery reset made the dash think it was there again 🤷

Onto today, made it to work fine now issues. On the way home i spotted what looked like a turbo mx5, a 918 porsch and an astra having a play, why not join in.... hit sports mode and instantly the car dropped into limp. Reset the car an tried again. Was all good so hit sports and same again...

Not sure where to go with this now, I'll see how much it plays up as it's still drivable but a little miffed with it. There is a listed fault that a there initially but searching doesn't yield much.

I shat myself for 3 weeks until the new battery proved itself.

I'm at a crossroads with it now as I really want to hybrid it, if I don't I'm selling it but I really don't want to!

In 4 years I've only seen one of these on the road.

So.... I've driven the car to London this morning 🤦🏻‍♂️ 3 times it did it, i think I've figured if you ask it to shift quickly it does it. But light throttle and slow changes it's seemingly OK.... It did also, on 5 occasions hit me with a quick flash of the stop for a charging issue.

So currently my thought is, the smart charging module thing is failing or the alternator...

Got a 130mile drive back yet to ponder on it.

Wish me luck

Well I made it back. Whole slew of new fault codes stored.

I've ordered the voltage regulator from rpd so that's the next thing in the parts cannon.

Output when loaded looks OK and sits at 14.4 with the lights on.

Cleared all the codes and went to drive it... got stuck in the middle of my road.

Any input on the faults is appreciated

To top it off the fabia 2 vrs is off the road awaiting me to strip the front off to replace the radiator, so it looks like the 57 year old R8 will be pulled into daily duties until I sort one of them...
