Origin B2 confusion

Can someone help... been looking at buyin one of these but ive seen that it says it comes with the laser detector as standard but the radar detector is an optional extra.

I thought most portable cameras and guns used radar so surely this is no good as it wont pick em up?

Radar is the least commonly used detection method used today in the UK !! Its so dated that most mobile guns etc are laser !! Dont worry about radar !! If you are that bothered get the addon, the B2 is the best bit of kit for the money and Has (clio16vsport) can get you one cheaper than most places.

mi old mans got one and it donjt pick up mobile safety vans, which he aint happy about as they are the main ones that get ya!!!!!!

mobile vans will never be picked up unless they are a- programmed into the database and so the position is located by th egps or b- someone or yourself is being targeted by the gun. If you drive thru the site and the gun is not being usedthen no it wont set it off, as for radar i believe this use to be most common in gatsos, by buying the radar add on your simply protecting yourself incase a gatso cameras location has not been stored on your b2 in which case it wont pick up the position but the rader the camera is giving off. Basically the b2 IS the best detector out there i have a road angel and am seriously considering the b2 simply because of the extra features it has. My advice would be buy it or if not then buy my road angel off me so i can buy a b2

yes, but theres no way of knowing whether the machines switched on.

they aim at everyone yees however they will only target cars that in their opinion are exceeeding th espeed limit so yes the gun will be pointed however there will be no signal being emmitted and so as such your detector wont be set off. Best thing is when you drive past a mobile van often store its location in case you simply forget where it is one day

But if you look at the origin website, it says you dont get after sales support unless you buy from an approved reseller (this only applies from Arpil 04 onwards apparently, so people who have bought before will be OK) :

i paid £349 from radargurl in decemebr i think they are selling them for £420 now.

So if they dont lazer every car how do they know which car to lazer? I mean there aint much difference in a car doing 35 compared to one doing 30 is there? you wouldnt notice the difference would you?

you and me may not notice a difference but if you do the job everyday ud probably get a fair idea also i believe in a 30 you need to be doing at least 37 to be prosecuted its 10% 3mph + 4mph some do upto 6added so between 37-39 to be cuaght, also in most cars to be doing this your speedo would read 40mph+ due to innacuracy so to be fair theres no excuse

i paid £330 inc postage from a dealer on eBay, came within 2 days and was obviously brand new/sealed with registration etc!

it doesnt have a radar detector because it uses GPS to know where the speed traps are, wether radar, laser or whatever... the laser detector is to get mobile traps...e.g. a copper with a laser gun that cant be put into some database of cameras.

aah, i see... so what method do those lil black boxes on tri-pods use then? theyre also mobile ones yeah?

little black boxes by the side of the van are laser same as the camera inside the van except tis been mounted outside, possibly to give a better view of oncoming traffic, basically by a b2 should be safe of almost anything then

The only way youve a chance of picking up the lazer detectors (either on the tripod or in the safety vans) is with a lazer detector. The B2 and road angel both have this capability and are both similar performers when it comes to laser detection acording to http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/frames.htmhttp://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/frames.htm

However the B2 is the better overall performer according to most posts on here.

If the laser beam isnt been targeted at your car, or a car near you, you wont pick up the wider defracted lazer signal, hence no alarm, no matter what you are using Adams. Its basically 50/50 with the vans when using a detector, as they can usually take a reading before you can react to the alarm and brake. The current best you can buy is the B2 IMO.

If you want to guarantee not being done by the vans etc, then buy a lazer jammer (sends out a signal to confuse the spead trap machne when you are being targeted). I believe these are ilegal though (see ukspeedtraps link above).
