OZ Advice on selling my V6 255 and Looney Plate

  Clio V6 255BHP
Happy new year to all.

With a new year comes new lifestyles and new adventures.

I am selling my beloved Black V6 but having doubts.. If I won the lottery tomorrow I would keep it...... the reason is I am moving to Australia this year. for good!

Do I sell it or do I Keep it.

Its on Piston Heads and shortly on Autotrader http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/59728.htm

If I keep it I will be approx 20K+export costs down and it probably will get ragged on the docks and scratched up on the way. If I sell I could use the money as a deposit on a mansion!

All your opinions welcome

If i was moving to OZ, i would presonally sell the car on. I'd be gutted, but i think it would be the best thing for the car - As you say they (at the docks) will rag it and scratch it! 23k is a healthy deposit on any house, so i would do that.

Just like to say the car looks awesome!

Hi mate, I'm not exactly the voice of experience being only 21, but my opinion is this:

I would sell and make sure the money goes on a deposit like you say, towards a sweet home in Oz.... then settle and see what your situation is once you have spent some time there.... there are always other V6's out there.. your dream home may not be around for long!

Hope that helps

All the best
Tom

If you do decide to ship it over, get it in a crate with some other belongings, that way you drive it in and out of the crate yourself, and dont get the damage that occurs when the car is strapped down on deck etc. My mate did this with a car he brought over from the states.

Alright mate, I've been to Oz and it was fantastic and if I ever got the chance to live over there not even a Clio v6 could hold me back!! You've had your fun with it and selling it on would be the wisest option.

  Turbo'd MX-5 MK4
that looks so awesome its untrue, but i think you should sell, its VERY unfortunately not worth it.

If money wasn't a problem i'd keep it . Surely the car will have some kind of insurance against damage , as would your possesions . Or you could sell it and get yourself a monster v6 holden , ain't petrol as cheap as chips over there in the land of sheep n sheilas ??

you dont need a fast car in oz you go from traffic light to traffic light, no bends the roads are gay.I loved cars probly as much as any1 could but out in oz i just thought bugger it theres no point at all. im going back to melbourne in a few weeks to stop for good (fingers crossed)

I'd be tempted to keep it. Shipping it won't be an issue as you can drive it into the container yourself if you're worried. Not sure what the import duties are though at the other end – that would be the deciding factor for me?

Not sure I'd be that keen on buying something like a house as soon as I stepped off a plane. You could always sell the V6 there in a years time if you still need the money for a deposit.

in 3 months ive seen about 4 renaults so i think parts will cost a fortune if u want something fast u can pick skylines and supras up proper cheap

  850 T5. mmmm Turbo!
surly something so rare would be worth a lot more in OZ!

what u could do is leave it at my house so i can look after it for u.
then u go to oz and decide when u get there.

:D

Sell it and buy the new runout(discontinuing the Monaro completely) supercharged Monaro that is coming out over there, I bet you'd soon forget about your Clio.

Shipping shouldn't be a problem at all....lots of Japanese cars make it over here in very good condition.

When I was in Oz i hired a holden Astra convertible along the great ocean road, I thought my V6 would be a ideal for that trip.

If I did take it I probably would be the only one in melbourne, plus melbourne as a renault affaire in St Kildas which specialise in parts.

So do you think cruisers are more suited to OZ - I heard the speed limits are strictly enforced!!

I heard about those - they have the flared nostrils and differentley coloured bonnet - they are quite expensive also about 70K AUD (30K GBP!!)

Yeah those V8s have a creamy growl!!!

A Vauxhall Calibra with a V8 vs. a Clio V6?
40p a gallon sounds an ideal place to run the Vee.

If it was me I think I'd keep it. I always like cars that are a bit different from the norm but not in a look-at-me way. I think the Vee fits the bill and would be a great car to have over there: cheap fuel, less corners ;), rare, parts will be available.

Your car is stunning BTW! :)

  tiTTy & SV650
parts are defo available u get aus F1 edition 182's afterall. depends if you need that money for the deposit or not really...

Thanks for your comments everyone... I guess I will put it up for sale and if it sells it sells otherwise it comes with me, let fate decide......

Regards
Ev

I would take it with me - I doubt very much that there is many over there at all as European cars are quite heavily taxed from new I believe, something like £14k+ for a bog standard 'normal' Clio.

Email Renault Australia and see how many they've sold! You would get loads of attention over there in a Vee

It's black though isn't it? Shame if it is as all that sun would be wicked for a Mars Red one :)

I stayed mainly in the centre of melbourne and the amout of traffic lights are shocking every 100mtrs stop start stop start. It would be nice to have your v6 but it would be a waste i think.People in oz dont think anything of driving for 4 hours to have a picnic and to get to see the local sights you need to drive for hours at a time thats why they all have huge barge like comfy cars.i dont think its worth the hassle i would sell it and get something like this http://www.drive.com.au/used_cars/toyota/supra/melbourne/detail.aspx?id=2531429&pg=1&pp=0&d=0&nv=1 or this http://www.drive.com.au/used/search/results.aspx?m=SUBARU|IMPREZA&l=33&pr=15000|80000 http://www.drive.com.au/used/search/results.aspx?m=FORD|FALCON&l=33 these let me know how you get on

I drive mine in London. The traffic is dreadful, there are cameras for speeding/bus lanes/box junctions/traffic lights, wardens everywhere, people who can't drive/use a mirror/indicate/know what lane to be in on a roundabout. The average speed is more or less thae same as it was in the days of the horse and cart. Petrol is expensive, pollution, car crime and so on. Can Austrailia be worse (aside from their traffic police who based their training manual on an old Hitler Youth agenda)?

You could argue the ideal car is a Smart or some diesel powered Clio here in London. Don't think those two cars would have put the same grin on my face as my Vee did this morning when I pulled out the slip for the A2 at Greenwich and was doing over 100mph before the flyover on the way to the Blackwall Tunnel with a noise more fitting an F1 car than some little hatchback.

You will miss that V6.

Driving a Toyota Subapoo Ford Capri, being thousands of miles from civilisation, checking under the toilet seat for biting spiders, Swimming with Great Whites and poision filled jellyfish, Steve Urwin. I can see why there are so many Australians here.

That's a good offer. Leave it in John's safe hands, go to the other side of the world and experience life as it was 10 years ago, make some Lebonese friends, go surfing in a chain mail suit, come back, collect the Vee and live happily ever after.

  Clio V6 255BHP
LOL..

I miss my vee already - its been sitting in the garage since christmas. I think i will take it for a spin as soon as the weather clears up a bit.
