Paint bubbling + flaking at arches

  Jap Box
After my 3 hours long cleaning session today the car is looking spotless :)

But now upon going out the rear drivers side arch has got some new bubbling going on around it that wasnt there before the wash :( this particular bit had a huge around of dirt on there that was almost ground in, took ages to get it all off.

Products used on there were: AG tar remover, AG Colour restore and then AG SRP.

These were used all around the car bar the tar remover as they wasnt needed everywhere.

Bubbling has only happened on this area of the car and no where else, looks like its got a rash :( so any advise on how to tackle this? Will it need sanding down, flatting and then spraying up again.

Also in both rear arches he paint is starting to flake away underneath, almost getting to the point where it will flake off more at the outside and then be visible, can I get some layers of hammerite on there to try mould the flaked edges down?

Thanks

it sounds like in rubbing away the marks you have actually punctured the paint. This coupled with some ITR in, under the paint, will probably be the cause of the bubbling :( So yes, a respray will be required as that rash will only grow as the elements and road grime/salt get into the open "wound".

With regards to the paint flaking, I would suggest it being the same issue, but a different cause (stone chips etc). I would personally speak to a body shop, as a quick touch up could make the situation worse :(

Ahh the paint bubbling was on the rubbish side of the car that did have some bubbling on there anyway, ill try get halfords to colour match it up and then ill just flat it back myself and spray it down, failing that ill slap a sticker there :rasp:

Yeah the arch paint is flaking because of chips, dirt, salt water etc flicking from the wheels. Not wanting to spend much really so thought lining the edge with hammerite might just hold it down in place, its not visible anyway but I can tell it will just get worst. Ill try find bodyshop in the area but havent seen or heared of one anywhere near :S
