Picked up these alloys...

the paint job is awful, and they need a refurb, so many runs and sum parts are flaking, the paint needs to come off, whats the best way to do this...couldnt really get away with a wire brush drill bit as there are too many spokes and i think it would be too fiddly, anyone know any chemical stripper to take the paint off.......also any1 no of a gd paint match 4 tsw alloys. cheers

take them to be powdercoated would be the easiest way. otherwise nitro-mors, wire wool and sandpaper would be an alternative.

upto around £200 for all 4. but would look like perfect OE finish in whatever colour. alot easier tbh and lasts alot longer than painted wheels.

Do not use nitromorse! i did and it almost ruined my wheels really eats into the metal if your not very careful.

If you want a perfect job get them sandblasted/refurbed professsionally

the contractor one works slower and needs to be longer to fully work. so in removing it quickly it wont be as damaging for the wheels. wheras the conventional one in the green tub is literally acid lmao

so u reckon the contractor 1 will be good middo, iw ud have them sandblasted and or powder sprayed but thing is i only got them for £100 quid and cant realy aford 2 have that done, where there are some flakes the origonal tsw finish underneath looks nice, anyway i could just get the black off and keep that, maybe if i just carefully used the contractor sruff and rinsed every now and then?? any1 know a good match also for tsw pace silver alloys??

just go to your local body shop and ask if you could buy some 230 and some 80 grit paper then sand away start with roughtest and then work towrds the finer stuff take a while but will do it without recking them

  2001 Clio 1.2 Dynamique
might have 2 do that, do they sell it in halfords do u know....i take it grit paper is difrnt then wet n dry... total novice hear.

  Clio's
both sand paper and wet and dry have different grit levels. the higher the grit level the finer the paper. so to remove paint you start with a low grit level i.e 80 then work up to 1500 to make the surface smooth. but be careful not to scratch the alloy with the 80 grit!

does that really matter since it will be rubbed down with the finer w/d paper after, and inbetween primer/paint/lacquer anyway. Think im just gonna use the lesser strength nitromorse and wire wool, and go carefully, maybe a couple of test areas.
