Passenger Seat Is Supposed To Rattle

Well ive had my 172 for 2 weeks and with in the first few hours of driving it, it developed a rattle from the passenger seat, not just a little rattle but a clanking. Anyway i took it back to the dealer today and was told " they are supposed to rattle when noone sits in the seat" what a load of b****cks. Anyway i had a 1.2 before and the seats were exactly the same and they didnt rattle. Does anyone know what parts are needed to stop the rattling, i think the seat is ratteling on the runners. Help the rattle is driving me nuts even with the stereo up loud i can still here it.

Take out your seat, set it on fire and throw it through Renaults window then say that it was meant to do that!!!! EEEEEIJOTS!!! Same Difference?

reminds me of being told by my dealer Parks parts department a week after i ordered it that "Renault dont make touch up paint for their black cars"...mmmmmm bullsh*te so called their other branch and ordered it there instead

Ask them for that excuse in writing from your dealer, bet you a new set of leather Recaros that they wont do it!!!

fingers crossed lol!!!

Erm....the seat is definitely not "supposed" to rattle. Probably going back, plonking your keys on the counter and briefly mentioning Trading Standards might do the trick. Also ask to speak to the manager.

There was posts on here before about rattling passenger seats... aparently Renault just replaced the seat runners.

sometimes that doesnt work, mine had the runners lubed and it came back, doesnt do it all the time now but occasionally, cant be arsed to keep going back as i know they probably wont sort it. sometimes how far back the seat is affects the rattle, i found pulling the seat foward a notch or two on the runner helped or stopped it completely

This is a bloody design fault, i had two 172s now and both had clunking passenger seats. The dealer fitted a new set of rails twice but its still the same.

They told me that, but it still doesnt stop it, basically all they could recomend was have someone sat in the pasenger seat, on a 15k car you shouldnt have to put up with that. Dont think my next car will be a renault now.

My 172 has just clocked up 1800 miles and the seat runner hasnt started rattling yet. (touch wood)

As mentioned before mention T/S and ask to see the manager. Failing that go to another renault dealer. Im lucky enough to have three dealers to choose from within a 20mile radius.
