Some other forum members have had a problem with the 172 steering wheel going tatty after only a short period of time. Mine had split across one of the rubber inserts, and the leather had gone sticky.

Very long story short.....Local dealer says fair wear and tear (idiots), RenaultUK totally not interested. I decided to try Renault France as a last ditch attempt at getting the replacement under warranty.

A manager from RenaultUK contacted me and asked for some pictures of the steering wheel. After she saw them, she agreed it was faulty and replaced it under the warranty. Job done!!!

It just shows that if you keep on at them, sooner or later they will back down

Good result that mate . Hopefully i won't need to contact Renault in France but maybe some contact details how you went about it would be helpful to others .

My mate had the same issue, was messed about by the dealer, sorted in the end plus they gave him a 20% off parts & accessories voucher as a goodwill gesture
