Ph1 172 Alarm Help

  V6 230
Hi, Collected my car from being valeted yesterday and now he alarm is playing up :dapprove:

When i collected it all was fine, then after a few short trips the alarm starts going of everytime i unlock the car and get in, then wont stop for ages no matter what i do.

I am guessing that this will be due to water ingress caused by a pressure washer, would this most likely be the bonnet sensor?

I cant understand why it would be so intermittant, if it is water why didnt it do this all the time since i collected it?

Any suggestions?

Battery voltage is fine btw

if you unlock the car and open the door to quicky it will set the alarm off and it will go off for about 40 seconds and you cant do anything about it, you can still start the car and drive off.... Ive done it many times.

also the interior sensors are cack and are way to sensitive, you can reverse the wires around on them to de-sensitise them by about 40% iirc. Also you can switch the interior sensors off by turning the key to ignition and back to the off posotion twice and lock the car with the bleeper within 7 seconds. the car will beep twice to let you know they have been turned off.

Also the bonnet switch is shite, it gets wet and corrodes inside thus making it tempremental and setting the alarm off.

do a search for 172 alarm, massive post on it, and how to sort problems out.

Also they like to randomly unlock. so when you get back to your car and its open 99% of the time you did lock it.... its just the alarm.

Cheers, will give the bonnet switch a clean and turn the sensors off and give it a go.

Could allways have been me opening it too fast as it did seem to go off for approximately a minute and could not get it to stop no matter what i did.

Thanks
