Ph1 172 Flamer - Subtle, Working Progress *PIC HEAVY*

Done a few changes to the car and got some more things pending so thought I would start a wee progress thread so i can update it as and when.

Picked her up on 30th June 2012 from Stockport, Cheshire with only 69,000 genuine miles, heaps of paperwork and a recent belt change and she didn't miss a beat on the way back to Glasgow.

Pic next to my daily at the sevices

So got her home, plugged a new speedo sensor in, swapped the fitted ph2 lights back to ph1 lights. Put some elbow grease in to a polish and wax along with a new steering wheel, corrected front lights, new T1Rs and just a general tidy up.

Then fitted some Cooksport springs (highly recommended)

which is just as well as this was the condition of the front standard spring.......

Some after pics (very bad quality but will get decent ones next good day) nice subtle drop, very happy although they will settle a bit more I rekon

4 months later shes currently on 74,000 miles with no real issues, excellent little cars these.

Things to come in the next few weeks - Refurbed anthracite Williams wheels and HIDS

Cheers for looking, let me know what you think.

Cant be much worse than mine, I'm another pigeon hit away from having a silver bonnet and black bumper, still, less paint=less weight!

Looks great! Are we buying all the best ph1's up here or what?

In all honesty your car would probably be the most fun out on track! You don't need to touch them to make them good for track! Go try tuition and see if you enjoy it! Nothing ventured nothing gained and all that spiel!

O and don't go out with Gaz unless you have a death wish...

I drove a bog standard one the other day, so good in standard form makes me wonder why I put the coilovers on mines.

I wish I could keep mines as good as yours.

Looks great. Still think phase 1s are the best.

Can you post a side profile pic want to see how its sitting on the springs. Wants the gap measure between the centre hub and the arch? Like to compare to my sportlines.

  lots of clios.
Looking good grandad ;) keep it standard-ish. Someone needs to not ruin one! haha

What a kind Grandson.......but i still ain't budging ;)

Hmm...you've lowered it... I'm sure the peer pressure will be too much eventually.

Not gonna lie, I was bricking myself the first time I was about to go out. Almost bailed and went home LOL.

Few updates since I last posted.........

Now colour coded all round, some brand new 2118s (although the F1s are now back on for the winter). After 18months shes been a reliable little thing, now on 79,000 miles.
Got a cup spoiler currently at the body shop so that will be on shortly. Fitted some spray shack bullets the other week but I still need to get a picture with them on, top quality they are!

Also had a machine polish and some Meguiars wax.

Future plans are hopefully some front end paint as the bonnet and bumper are really bad and I might stick a new clutch in.

As always, comments welcome = apologies for the number of pics!

Cheers,
Al

Ok so a few updates. New genuine Renault clutch fitted by the ever willing Fraz and Stu. Also received my new spray shack bullets and finally got my cup spoiler sprayed and fitted. On F1s again for the winter and gave her a well earned clean.

You've just persuaded me to get some cooksport springs after seeing this!

What bike rack/roof rack combo are you using there?

Cheers
