Ph2 172 steering wheel on a ph1 172???

Car  Car SOLD :-(
Hi Guys,

I'm having the usual problem of a disintergrating phase 1 172 steering wheel after 36K!.
It must be the two sovereign rings I wear on each finger!:rasp:

Got a ph2 172 steering wheel how easy is it for a semi-competant garage to swop over?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Adam

think the airbags in the ph2 mk2 clios are different wiring set upto the ph1's. So not sure if the ph2's airbag will work in the ph1. I may be wrong tho!

Sounds a typical Reno thing to do!

Anyone managed it?

Cheers ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Surprised nobody off here hasn't managed, as it seems a common problem

if its possible more people would have done it. best way would be remove the wheel and see if it'll clip on using the same mountings. the wiring can always be by-passed with a solenoid if they dont match. :)

not possible to do if you want to keep the airbag, the mk2 phase 1 clio runs a different airbag system than the phase 2, and uses different connectors, dont forget the phase 2 clio uses the UCH system to control all the wiring and devices and link them all together instead of relays.

Thanks for the advice guys^^^^^^^^.

Looks like I'll have to sell the ph2 172 wheel and get the original retrimmed, which will be a major hassle.

Don't you just love French cars!!!!!
