Pipercross PK242 or standard airbox on a 172?

  None
Currently got a PK242 fitted by previous owner, it's not in the big test list afaik so wondering whether to go back to OEM airbox?

The sound is nice but starting to grate on me a little since that's not what I want, but I'm wondering if the standard airbox will be better in terms of power / smoothness?

Just interested to see what you people reckon. I want my 172 to be as standard as possible, at the same time giving that engine as much cold air as is possible - noticed that the PK242 position isn't great, wondering if it causes a lot of heat-soak? This is the one I have on:

I have a very similiar filter, found mine was crap at first when the engine was warm it just felt sluggish, i now have a decent cold air feed and its much better plus i enjoy the noise but i no people do say they have better results with standard airbox and aftermarket panel filter there was a thread on here a while back where they did a test on aftermarket filters have a search you should find it
