Looks the s**t! Man-oh-man - please for the love of God, allow customisable K&M inputs and not frigging insist on the play-school coloured buttons pad.

The latter seems to be a spreading cancer amongst PC titles these days. YOU WILL use these keys that we set. Or use a 360 pad. Or GTFO.

This is definitely going to support customizable inputs, the first one did and there can be a fair amount of controls when you factor in all the vehicles!

It will also support joysticks if you feel the need to use one

The only thing I worry about is if they try and monetize it too much with microtransactions. A lot of free2play games have been ruined by allowing plays to "buy" items that are not otherwise available to players who do not spend money - as long as they keep their head about it it should go ok.

Hopefully it will be better than the original, but it's got a lot to stand up for if it wants any sort of chance!

I really do hope so. I used my Microsoft FF Sidewinder II stick a LOT on Battlefield 2142. Just so precise in the delicate stuff and fully chuckable when other aircraft were on your ass. Over 12 years old that bit of kit - and I still use it. That was back in the days when a decent Microsoft stick nudged £100 though. They don't build 'em like they used to!

I'll agree to that, haven't seen any new joysticks I'd actually want to get to be honest - and with the fail rate of expensive peripherals I've had the past few years wouldn't want to risk chumping a hundred or two on something that'll likely break!

I got in to the closed beta on Friday. Played a couple hours over the weekend, and it's far from perfect yet - but it is definitely good.

10 people in a squad on voice, spanking it across the terrain on quad bikes. Hilarity was sure to follow. Would be good to get a few of you guys on there

Mate has got into the beta and has posted up some stuff:

first time in, spawned at home base and there was a massive buildup of tanks at our spawn. They were organizing a armored push into New Conglomerate territory. At least 10-15 tanks with the support of 2 infantry dropships, and a couple fighters and bombers. Jumped into an empty gunner seat and road along with them.

The battle was epic.

gotta go to work, will post more NDA friendly info and other stuff too

but so far its pretty hectic on the battlefield, we had a 3 way battle going on between all the factions.

I got in a week or so ago, it's pretty good but IMO very much beta (not certifications etc), I'm hoping it is better than Planetside but to be honest from what I've played so far I'm not betting on it!


P.s. I think we should all post character names (though Friends isn't working properly yet).

How come? I have to admit, from seeing footage of the original PS they've changed quite a lot, but that might be for the best. After I fixed the crappy performance I was getting, I was well away. Helps if you play with the right people though
