Power Graph Evaluation

Bought the ph1 172 a couple of months back. The previous owner kept telling me how it needed remapping to get to its full potential.

The car spec
- Cat Cams 420's
- Open induction kit relocated to behind light
- SS exhaust + Decat
- Group_N ECU unlocked to work with car

Apparently it is overfuelling but i have no idea on power graphs so thought i would post it up to show people who may have a clue. Would a remap totally transform the car and how much would i expect to see once its been mapped to suit the cams?

Torque shouldn't drop away like that at 5k.... Definately get it mapped mate!

oh right ok, group n is an off the shelf remap, will still benefit a lot from a custom map though.

Personally I would get an RS Tuner kit with a custom remap from Henk

AFR should stick around 14 ish on idle, should go down to 13's on load...which it does insome point but then goes well below on others...

so yes its overfueling, do you get a lot of popping/banging from the exhaust.

When you get this remapped i would 100% defo change the oil too.

Running rich can contaminate the oil in the engine and cuase all sorts of problems, bore wash being the start of it.

power (bhp) seems healthy though, as above, torque seems a little off but thats maybe just down to the map.

will sort itself when remapped.

As a general rule, if devaiting from the standard cams, a custom live remap is always the best way forward!

get lots of burbling from the exhaust, when stationary rev-ing it, it bangs and pops abit yeah.

Will get it mapped soon i think :)

any ideas of what power/torque i should see with a proper map?

depends on a number of factors to be honest mate, personally i dont think you'l get that big an increase, graphs reads 180ish now...maybe get a touch more, BUT your torque will improve no end and thats what you'l feel.

Also the car will drive nicer, smoother, you'l get better mpg and the engine life will be extended.

But defo take my advice regards the oil...just before your or straight after your remap change it! it will be contaminated or on the way to!

wouldnt that increase the oil level though?
