I went to view a 182 cup at a garage today and to see what they would give for my mint condition 2003 172 FF with 27k on the clock. The guy said he could give me a max of £5k due to it's colour cos most people want a car like mine in black or silver. What a nonce!! So I would have needed to part ex mine and given them £3k for the 182 cup. I pretty much just walked off without saying anything when he said that!!

It might sound harsh, but presumably there is less of a call for the red uns? Thats why theres so few of them about?

To be honest I reckon he would have probably sold it on for about 6700. I was hoping for about 6 or maybe a little more for it. I felt like slapping him. I know they are out to make money, but I thought that was pretty shocking.

Just part exed my 53 plate silver 172 for 5500, it was on 55k miles.
These cars are selling private for around 6000. I wanted 6500, but bit the bullet and got rid before I had to spend money on cambelt and repairs.

So your offer does seem a little low, maybe an extra 700 would be about right.

Only if theres demand for it. Are'nt they rare because less people picked that colour in the first place?

To the OP - is there really much to gain from swapping a 172 for a 182?
