Hello everyone,
My name is Reece, I'm 20, I'm from N.I, work 2 part-time jobs (so I'm NOT one of these wee spoilt brats that my parents sponsor me, I pay for everything myself) and I am studying motor vehicle at College so I carry out most of the work by myself. Apart from the bodywork, which I don't have a clue about, fairplay to anyone who does.
I put my first car up on here "Project Renny" got quite a good response with it and it was.......different. I sold it in November 2011 and when my renewal came up in February 2012 I had to get another because they're fantastic cars, I love them. £30 a year road tax, really economical and cheap insurance. So I looked for 4 months and in the end I found one at a dealers in Aberdeen (I live in N.I so it had to be worth the trip.......and it was).
2007 1.5 DCi 86bhp Dynamique S (guide me home headlights, foglights, rear tinted windows, 16" canasta alloys, etc.) one owner from new, not a mark on the alloys, new tyres all round, FULL stamped history, only 26k miles, taxed, MOT, fully valeted, full tank of diesel, comfort pack (A/C, reverse parking sensors, leather seats etc.) and in Monaco blue (love this colour)
Anyway here is how I bought it =).
Leather Isofix seats front and back
A/C and reverse parking sensors
The reason I got another, awesome MPG.
As I stripped my previous MK3 back to standard before I sold it I had a few things hiding in the shed such as these tinted ClimAir wind deflectors.
Purchased a set of AP Coilovers from Venom Motorsport (would HIGHLY recommend them, FANTASTIC customer service).
Also called into a local car shop where I'm good friends with the owner so got a REALLY good deal on a set of Inphase front door speakers, rear quarter panel speakers and parcel shelf 6x9's
Every car needs a mascot, so here's Coconut who is in charge of guarding the music
I have a top of the range flipout Pioneer C.D/DVD player, touchscreen. It can be wired up to a T.V ariel and all that kinda stuff. Have my I-pod lead connected up to it so saves me making C.D after C.D. Gives REALLY nice crisp clear sound but unfortunately I have no pictures of it.
Anyway, when I finally found the time between College and my 2 jobs I got around to fitting the Coilovers.
Rear adjusters didn't make it out of the box and 20mm of threads left at the front
Next was a fairly simple but effective change - de-badging the rear.
Looks alot........cleaner.
Then I came out of the gym one day, went to open my door but got a helping hand from the wind which I didn't appreciate at all - blew my door into a wall =/. But got it fixed and got the side moulds colour coded too while I was at it. The guy Peter who does my bodywork is AMAZING.
Washed, dried, waxed, polished & tyre shine.
Then MOT time came around and I wasn't sure if coilovers were allowed or not so just to be safe I changed back to the standard suspension. It flew through not a problem and the MOT man told me coilovers are allowed aslong as they are fitted properly so I felt a bit stupid for that but I was happy with a fully years test.
I then decided solid top mounts along with the AP coilovers would give me a more solid/sportier feel (anyone with the standard top mounts and coilovers will know there is a bit of play there) but they are only available for the RS MK3's so I got some made up.
Got a really good day so I decided I would fit my angel eye headlights (kept from my previous MK3) new droplinks and my coilovers again but with my nice new custom top mounts.
Never underestimate what a farmer can do with a lathe, pretty sure these are the only set about.
Unfortunately my glory was short lived, I forgot to mention I wanted a bearing in the top mount so the inevitable happened.
It was entirely my fault as when you're getting custom work done you need to explain EXACTLY what you want but I didn't, so yes silly me.
Not serious camber just a serious broken shock.
So I changed back to the standard suspension (yet again) and fitted the angel eye headlights.
If anyone saw my last project I went with a black and pink theme which was a bit "in your face".
This theme is simple and clean so I got super white dipped beam, full beam and foglights along with diadem indictor bulbs.
BUT I love purple so I got purple T5's for the halo rings.
Bumper and standard headlights off
Front bumper casually sitting in the house. The observant people will notice the foglights are gone and blanks are in their place, they were away to be part of the main plan I had for this car from day one.
Standard headlights - top
Angel eyes - bottom
Sidelights / halo rings night & day
Looks so evil .
Sidelights - Standard vs New
Dipped beam - Standard vs New
Full beam - Standard vs New
Then winter came so I washed, dried, waxed and polished the car before parking it up for winter. I drove a crappy aul 306 d turbo for winter, awful cars but cheap to buy and maintain so done me for winter instead of risking Renny.
My mammy lives in a wee village in the country so when the snow arrives it really does arrive.
It actually snowed so badly that the snow had basically buried the car, I took the picture when the snow was starting to go away.
Anyway, after the snow passed I went about fitting the coilovers AGAIN.
I decided to use the standard top mounts as money was tied up in other things so I couldn't afford to get bearings put in the custom top mounts........YET.
Then this is where things get interesting. I was once told "It's IMPOSSIBLE to fit a lower RS grille to a non-sport clio bumper no matter what you do" Now I'm the type of person where if you tell me I can't do something I will prove you wrong :rasp:.
So I chased up a few second hand bumpers and got a brand new genuine RS lower grille.
Also in the shed I had the genuine SX front & rear splitters, genuine SX side skirts, genuine RS rear roof spoiler with CF fins and genuine RS upper grilles from my last MK3. I'm glad I kept these as they weren't cheap the first time round.
Took all the parts down to Peter and gave him specific clear instructions and got the following results.
How the front bumper started and how it is now:
How the rear bumper started and how it is now (minus SX splitter)
Custom front bumper - Smoothed out moulds, smoothed out number plate recess, gloss black smoothed foglight surrounds, gloss black RS upper & lower grilles, SX splitter and purple tinted foglights
Custom rear bumper - Smoothed out moulds, smoothed out tow eye, shortened plate recess, shortened boot lock recess & SX splitter
Was absolutely chuffed to bits with the results, definitely better than I had expected and knew once on the car it would turn heads.
So I managed to arrange other transportation so I could get the car left off to get everything fitted.
The day I dropped Renny off to get everything fitted.
A few days later Peter rang me (Friday morning) to say the car was ready for collecting from his house. Unfortunately I was flatout until after work on the Saturday evening so I got the girlfriend (the corsa limited edition is hers) to take me down to collect Renny as soon as I had finished work on the Saturday. Needless to say when I saw the end results I was speechless, I love it.
Looks like a completely different car, so beefy looking.
Peter said in the day it had been sitting on his drive there was numerous people asking him if it was his, if it was for sale and passing alot of compliments on it. Which made me very happy.
On the 20 mile drive home I don't think there was one car that I didn't catch staring with amazement at my car which resulted in a massive smile on my face and the girlfriend said she had noticed other drivers staring and thought that I'd be loving it, which I was.
Just to show how much difference there is between the standard and custom bumpers.
Was off on the Sunday so I gave Renny a much needed wash, dry, wax, polish and tyre shine.
Also found the sticky pads for fitting number plates and got the rear number plate fitted.
I use meguiar's products, the 2 bucket wash method and a wash mitt.
Just a few snaps

Then and now photos:
Then I had the weekend off work (for a change) so on Friday I decided to paint my calipers.
Cadbury Pearl Purple
Sanded down, cleaned, discs and pads wrapped up.
Gave them 6 coats each with an hour apart so it was quite late when I got finished up but I love them.
Then on the Sunday I decided to wash my car and the girlfriends car
His and Hers
So that's how things currently stand. After 15 months of ownership I have managed:
AP Coilovers
Custom front bumper (smoothed out moulds, smoothed out plate recess, gloss black smoothed foglight surrounds, gloss black upper & lower RS grilles, SX splitter & purple tinted foglights)
Custom rear bumper (smoothed out moulds, smoothed out tow eye, shortened plate recess, shortened boot lock recess & SX splitter)
SX sideskirts
RS rear roof spoiler with CF fins
Colour coded sidestrips
Angel eye headlights
Purple halo rings
Tinted ClimAir wind deflectors
Full speaker upgrade to Inphase
Pioneer headunit
Super white dipped beam and full beam
Diadem indicator bulbs
"Cadbury Pearl Purple" calipers
Have ALOT more to do before I'm fully finished but the only major thing left to do is get some really nice alloys and then it's just wee things here and there.
C + C welcome .
