Rattles (dashboard)

Hi there
My 6 weeks old Clio Sport rattles all over! Starting with the "thing" you put the coins in (sorry, I dont find the english word), over to the slot close to the windscreen. Its driving me nuts! I uses half a bottle of WD40 but to no avail... Any clues (besides putting the radio on...)?
Thanx.

Sandro - youre not alone.

do a search for "creaking" and "rattles" and youll find some very long threads on this site.

bottom line is that build qualiy isnt that great for the clio sport, however many say thats whats to be expected for the price of the car considering the awesome performance.

check the threads out - they should help.

Its not just the Renault Sports models....My bog standard Clio 1.4 rattled almost as much

Try hitting it thats what i do when the dash rattles. Dont think it will cure the sunroof rattle though

Sandro - the one close to the windscreen will be the heater vent (hopefully). I had this one, just take a screw driven and tighten the screws up. Mine had come loose and were vibrating. The are quite hard to get to so you will need a short screwdriver.

Try using the same screwdriver all over the dash, all the screws are the same size. Some of mine were loose under the steering wheel too. That might get rid of some of your rattles.

Mine does exactly the same from time to time. Its worse in cold weather. I thought it was the trim around the vent which clears the windscreen, but its not.

Mines not doing it at the moment, but I think Ill just put up with it. The last thing I want is Renault taking my dash board out. Im sure they would cause more trouble than its worth.

Too true, I had mine replaced and I lost count of things they broke!! They also forgot to put 3 screws back so it wasnt even fixed down properly, which meant another trip back to the dealer for them to fix it

Not all dealers are cowboys guys! Anyway what are you moaning about, the Clio is a mass produced car, youve got to expect a few rattles, your getting alot of car for not a great deal of money!

@all: I am aware that given the price of the car and the perfomance it brings, I should accept a few rattles here and there. But coming from 2 Audis before thats quiet hard, believe me.

Anyway, thanx for your help.
