Rear Strut Brace squaeking/tapping?

Fitted my rear strut brace last night, at first it was spot on, but then after a while it has started squeaking/tapping :S

I've checked numerous times that it's all tight etc, but it kept doing it.

I've just taken it off and all is good, no noise or anything. So is there any way to stop this from happening? Do I need a rubber washer on each side of the brace?!

yeh id get a rubber washer or gasket type of thing and put it on first, then the strut brace, then the bolt. if thats how you fix them on?

Well it sits on top of the rubber top mount inside, then the bolt on top, all seemed solid so thought it would be fine :S

they do nothing anyway, i would take it off.

to stop squeaking. undo the nut. jack up slightly and spray white grease on the rubber. jack down, retighten

I know they do nothing, got it purely for looks as it was cheap, as the rear of the car is stripped out.
Put the grease on the underside of the rubber?

ok, cool. they do look nice on stripped cars.
yeah once its jacked up a little you will be able to put grease under the rubber. mine used to squeak, this fixed it. needs white grease tho, so it won't perish the rubber. best to get a spray can of white grease, handy suff

isit fixed or does it have the adjustment bit in the middle to adjust the width of it?

just needs a good greasing with the correct rubbers/ washers.
squeaking shows you how much the car twists and flexes!

they dont do anything? :( what about front struts? Would replaced bushes be more effective?

adjustable top mounts would be the best bet.
front and rear strut braces (on a clio) do not do anything. they look quite nice tho

if its the same as mine,
then its not the mounts that are makin the noise,
is it the OMP one??
take it off and look on the bottom of the mountin points on the brace,
thats where mine was rubbing against the metal of the chassis,
look on the strut brace,
is all the paint scrapped off underneith the mounts?
makes a horrible squeeking noise

^

Yep that was the problem.
Solved it by just sitting it on top of the original nuts any putting another on top to hold it in place, no contact with anything so perfectly quiet :D

Looks cool too.

lol i solved it by puttin a layer of denim between the bits of metal,
wont last forever but is all quite now :D
