Recaro Seat Position

I'm getting really irritated by the seat position in the T. The recaro's are not height adjustable like my 1.2 seats were. The steering wheel is as high as it will go and still my hand bashes my leg and gets in the way during sharp cornering.

Has anybody come across a way to lower the seat? Only other solution I can think of is a smaller wheel but not really a fan of either putting a 197/200 wheel in or one without an airbag.

You can remove the 4 washers under the seat which lowers it by a couple of mm but not by a massive amount.

The aftermarket subframes are lower I THINK (from Capital Seating) than the standard Renault ones, another 10mm I think.

How tall are you? Sit further back to change the angle of your legs?

Only 5' 10", I've moved it back for now and just feels weird. Seem so far away from the wheel.

Saying that though, with my foot resting on the clutch the angle of my leg isn't reduced that much and just rests under the wheel. Same position as the rest plate.

Aftermarket wheels solves all of your problems tbh....

The boss brings the wheel further out, and the aftermarket normally being smaller means you don't catch anything.

I'm 6ft 2, seat all the way back, steering wheel as low as it'll go, no issues.

removed my vibration mounts Jon and it lowers them ok, but you can't slide the seats any more. I ended up having to raise it again. If you cut the carpet where the runner go, it might solve the issue. I couldn't be arsed at the time :)

Swap you for my standard seats, lol

Lol, You wish. :p

Yeah, I might eventually come to getting one if I cant come to some comfortable setup.

I heard that if you move the seat on the runner while the bolts are out, they wont slide. Possibly did this? Thanks for that heads up though.

I found the recaro seating position worse than standard seats. Fixed buckets ftw :)

Yeah, my seating position was perfect in the 1.2, seat as low as possible and the wheel about mid height.

I'm going to grab a 13mm deep socket tomorrow and if the weather is any good ill take the mounts out and see.

If you take out the spacers, pop in a few washers instead as the seat will get stuck on the carpet.

It's worth removing the spacers, I did when I had recaros and it made a difference.

So much in fact that at donnington in my car head room was fine, went out in sams trophy and was banging my head on side of the roof!

Does it feel more vibratey?
Also, if your legs are knocking round in corners, the the seat bolt upright and rely on the curves to hold you in a bit more

Nope, Nothing that I can tell, I put some 10mm i.d. washers in as well.

Wasn't knocking in corners, my hand was knocking my leg which was a PITA.

Hi to everyone ,

I hope someone is able to give me a bit of advice - my daughter is looking to buy a 197 F1 , she specifically liked the F1 because of the seats and styling etc , we are hoping to view one of the next few days with a view to purchasing it - only problem is that she has not driven one yet with recaros and was unsure if the lack of adjustment ( only back and forth ? ) was going to be an issue - she is about 5" 5 - unsure if she is going to able to see ok and be comfortable - anyone of similar height able to give feedback - we do not want to travel a long way to view and waste people's time ,

thanks in advance

The recaros in the 182's are different from in the 197. You might be better to ask on clio197.net (if its working).

Only advice I can give is get her to drive one or at least sit in one to see how comfy she is.
