Red Ph1 1.4 Si

I don't see why it wouldn't. I have a feeling this is also on a Megane. Believe the in thing is a Skoda splitter, recall doing that back in the day.

I bought these of Facebook this evening 😅 is Amax and Apex the same thing? Brand new, £20. Not bad.
Great, it's too bad Skodas were never sold in my country, I'd prefer not to import it... Hmm, I wonder if I could 3D print a splitter, sure it wouldn't be rubber, but it would allow me to shape it however I want🤔

40mm drop on these non-Sports is a godsend! Here's what mine looked like:

The Saab sold this morning. Was genuinely gutted I've loved it's space, power, comfort. It will be missed. I won't miss the road tax and fairly terrible fuel consumption. I'd say it's worse than the V6. Sadly didn't get as much as I'd hoped but think the car market in general is in a dip.

Anyway the little Ph1 was dusted off, insured and taxed. I took it for a run this evening firstly getting air in the tyres one of the back rears may have a small leak as was a lot lower than the others. Hoping to change the wheels. Maybe. One thing I have found is getting exterior parts appears to be difficult.

Obviously both very different cars (Saab, Clio) but I had a good smile on my face. Something nice about underpowered and the simplicity. The Clio drives spot on!

Can anybody help get a radio code please?

I also got along to a local car meet called shite in the park. Didn't get many pictures as it started chucking it down.

I also had some spare Ph1 mats in the V6 so stuck them in. Just fronts unfortunately.

Let me know if going in the future. Think every last Sunday of the month. The bus museum is pretty cool and you get a cheap cuppa.

How on earth do I get the cylinder head cover removed, it moves as all bolts as far as I can see are out but it's just not coming away from the throttle body which is what I want to check.

Hi mate,
Have you thought about putting some phase 2 rear lights on it? I reckon they'd look nice :)

I think I must be in the minority but I like the old school look of the Ph1 rear lights.

Managed to get it off. Was being impatient. Guessing this doesn't look bad?

It has cut out on me a few times recently. Starts fine when under any pressure, slight hill it judders/struggles for power then cuts out. Starting then means keeping the revs up. Not ideal!

Not having much luck here. All back together but now revs are staying high once the throttle is blipped it's starts revving up and down. What have I done!?

I've checked all the wiring to make sure it's all plugged in.

I think my issue may have been fuel. Just a guess it's probably always keep over half a tank. I ran it low then these issues started appearing. I filled it up with a full tank of v power then a good run up and down the motorway and all seems well at the moment.

Do these have a fuel filter or is it within the tank?

Anyway I got some Autoglym headlight restorer. Think they came up well.

Nothing too exciting to report. It's in for an MOT next week. While we were away in the V6 my brothers partner drove it down from Fife to Newcastle. Good effort as I find it painfully slow. Scary slow in fact 😅 making me miss the Saab - also the space.

I had similar issues again with staring. Heavy revs, bang on 2k then cuts out and again once fuel got low also noticed any incline it was not happy. I today changed the fuel filter then put some fuel cleaner in. Struggled for a while but did start and seemed okay. Got along to the petrol station as only put 5litres in. Time will tell once fuel gets low.

Big thanks @Martin_172 for keeping me right.

One above is the old one. New one is a plastic Bosch. Couldn't see a date on the old one but looks to be a genuine Renault part.

Wouldn't be surprised if that's the original! I was fairly certain mine was too!
Here is hoping that's maybe solved it. I didn't have a wet vac 😅 otherwise I'd have bought the tool for the fuel tank. Maybe next step. I may hack the old filter up and see if it shows much.

The little phase 1 passed it's MOT on Friday one advisory being a anti roll bar bush. Genuinely hate getting advisories.

Anyway the car is still giving me issues the issues comes and go. Can do 100+ miles with no issue also no real connection car could be hot, cold full tank or low.

Issue is always either not starting it cranks but doesn't fire or struggles to do so. Or while driving the car becomes sluggish and cuts out.

Once it finally starts usually a long crank while opening the throttle it just sits at 2k revs with no throttle.

I have changed the fuel filter and this morning the spark plugs and all ignition coils. Unfortunately same issue. Switched it off left it a while then it started fine. Very strange and annoying.

I have also ordered a idle control valve but it's not arrived yet. Does anyone know if you have to fit this in a particular way? As I believe the ECU learns from it?

My only thought is bad fuel but I put good fuel in,fuel cleaner and the tank is usually fuel.

Any other thoughts would be appreciated?

Also thanks again to @Martin_172 for keeping me right on parts.

I left the car outside Haws Inn on Friday night so was picking it up. It again didn't start so probably looked in a foul mood 😅

bummer, was hoping a dodgy coil was the culprit! I've never known a crank sensor to cause one to idle high, just randomly cut out or struggle to start, possibly worth a go since they are cheap!

If not that thinking either a air leak or crap in the fuel tank. Just odd it works absolutely fine sometimes which wouldn't maybe make sense with the two above.
