relocating battery

Whats needed to relocate the battery? and how do you go about it? I'm guessing you just need something in the boot to mount the battery on, a possitive feed from the front of the car to the boot, and connect the earth to an earthing point in the boot? if thats right whats the best route to take the positive to the boot and bnest place to earth it?

ok so just read that, looks simple enough. Just need 4gauge cable and a battery box. can i just connect the new run of cable to the cables that currently connect to the battery?

yeah, run the +ve to the old +ve, and ground the battery at the boot.

Make sure its bolted in f**king solid, last thign you want is a bettery flying about the car int eh event of a crash, when i crashed ym 1.2 it broke teh moutnign bracket in the bonnet, and put a massive dent in the bonnet

Cant really help you on what you could use but it has to be strong to hold it in, was just watching men and motors and police were pulling over random cars and one of checks they were doing was making sure the battery was in securly as if its not then it will be very unsafe in an accident.

If it’s only a 1.6 Clio the gains are going to be extremely minimal to have a cold air feed done like this, especially for the effort involved. If its just looks you are after then that’s almost understandable.

It's a lot of work for something that isn't really going to make that much difference. It's not like your going to see a 30+bhp increase with an open induction kit behind the headlight and a heat shield. If you're wanting looks, I don't often pop the bonnet and show it off in front of people, you may however.

I personally see no point in this but each to their own. Hope it goes smoothly.

Its not really much work, especially if you're already running 4awg, like myself, to the boot for my ICE. Its not something I would do on my 1.2, but can see the benefits on a 172/182.

^^^Ditto that, ICE install, great! Looks, OK....on the limit on a 182/172, improvments are noticeable, but not on anything below that...

It will have an affect on the vehicle dynamics....batteries are fairly heavy! Alot of the yanks relocate them to the boot in their rwd muscle cars simply to improve traction. In the clio it would improve the weight distribution and imo, be worthwhile for that reason alone.

Idea weaight distribution is 50/50 F/R, but if you are just locating the battery its not gonna make a massive difference unless its a stripped, balanced race car

will do it just because i can, have got most of the bits, just need battery cage and suitable battery. will also be having a relocated induction kit.
