Renault approved mods for Cup

  172 Cup

Had a meeting this morning with 2 guys from Renault UK for various warranty issues. While I was talking to them I asked what happened to the list of "Official extras" that was hyped when the Cup was launched. At first they dismissed my suggestion and said Max Power had made it all up!

When I mentioned the fact it had been printed in thousands of brochures they admitted it had been planned (via TWR) but fell through and essentially nothing will ever be released!

No TWR had money at one point

then they bought arrows

f**k

Yeah but Rsport were Radbourne racing, previously importers of R5GTT convertibles and other more odd Renaults, why were they on TWRs patch??

Tom Walkinshaw spread the company to thinly, greed, too many fingers in too many pies.

wat fukkers trying to say u were wrong!! its not on, im guessing the "extras" were a major factor for those that bought a cup?

  172 Cup

Its not the only reason that I got the Cup (had a 172 previously) but it was a nice thought thinking about what would be available mod wise.

  Clio v6

I had a CUP brochure sent to me the other day from Renault UK. On the back it lists all sorts of extras, and says "Obtainable from your nerest dealer" or words to that effect.

PS. I didnt even ask for the brochure. I guessed as they new I own a V6 I might want to take a step up the ladder.

Brochure i got given the other day still had these extras on it, really should reprint it. Its false advertising isnt it.

Check for any disclaimers. Normally it will say somewhere this is only correct on the date this document was produced, we have the right to change anything blah blah blah

When I went to the first Bedford track day JW told me that the extra where coming soon. One of the main reasons I bought the Cup was for the extras. :(:(:(:(

I bought my Cup completely unaware of any possible extras.

If you want sports seats, a roll cage, a plumbed-in fire extinguisher or 6 point harnesses then go fit them, its not as if these items are exclusive to Renault....

As for warranty issues with them being "official mods", they in no way affect the engine, mechanics or drivetrain so if anything goes wrong, they cant blame your mods as they are unconnected with the mechanical failure....

Yes I can go an get this bits to fit from other places, but it takes time and who really wants to buy a used Clio with a range of different mods from different compaines. My other car is modded but the point its when you come to sell it you can say all the bits where fitted by Renault and so under warranty.

If something goes wrong and you have modded it I think your knackered or at least got a very big fight on your hands to prove the unconnected mechanical failure part of it. Have enough trouble getting things done with out any modds!
