Reno double spoiler..worse spoiler made

Having had this spoiler for about 2 months now I have had nothing but trouble with it!...the brake light is not a good fit...screws holes didnt match the holes on the spoiler hence had to improvise, paint just keeps flaking off in certain areas....

Who else has this spoiler, what does everyone else think?...I am tempted to take it off and sell it and get a carbon fibre K-tec one when it gets released.

Thanks

I have one of these on my Dynamique. Fitted it myself. Isnt the best fit.

It was a nightmare to fit, the screws would only go in so far then it would be impossible to do anymore. Managed to do it enough, but the screws arent in as far as they should go tho.

Dont have a problem with the brake light.

There is a slight step up from the roofline to the spoiler, this is okay when its cold, but when the weather heats up the spoiler catches when I open the boot which has caused a little of the paint to come off (only 1 inch) along the edge where it catches. Cant really notice this tho.

Ive been told by people on this forum that it is common for the double spoiler to do this tho.

yeah I see what you mean, I did have a richbrook ariel but took that off to put the original one back on, I think this is somehow catching the back when I open it. Sounds ridicuous I know but this seems the reason i can think of seeing as the weather is cold at the moment. Its just a eye sore at the moment, looks tacky with paint flaking off, how much do you think it would cost to get re-painted?

The fitting of the spoiler was ok though.

Thanks

Your better of getting another spoiler, I wouldnt recommend the double spoiler to anyone...check the forum for pics, think one is on a 172

Ive had the spoiler for about 4 months now, only problem i had with it was getting it to fit, as it didnt seem to fit very well, once i had it srewed in it was fine. No problem with paint chipping or it catching when hot.

and imo its the best looking spiler for the clio.

I have one one my 172. It took a whole day to fit as the holes didnt line up. In very hot weather the spoiler warps slightly and catches the roof, but not badly enough to scrape the paint. I dont regret having it one bit!

You could get a Stumpy ariel from Richbrook, and that could solve the spoiler catching on the ariel prob???

oh yeah, as for the worst spoiler ever made, thatd go to the Prima Racing one I bought before the Renault one. It looked like it had been made by a tollder with some crazy-doh, it was terrible. Then it took them 2 months to refund me, but thats another story!

I got this spoiler fitted by the dealer mid 2003, no problems with it catching roof atall, the brake light doesnt fit properly in, looks like its a tad too long for the spoiler, but you can only see it upon close inspection. I have to agree with Jonesy, i think its the best looking spoiler for the clio!

Hey thanks for the replies guys. My spoiler was fitted professionally but it is starting to catch in the centre of the spoiler with the central indent of the car hence a little paint scraping off....hmm all beginning to give me a headache. Lol anyone wanna buy it off me? Jas where did you ariel go in that picture?? Plus yes the brake light does not fit on properly

lol...i am not a pussy ill tell you that...just that only the centre catches, the rest of the spoiler doesnt catch...hmmm have I just got a dodgy spoiler or what....never buy renault stuff from ebay again.

I have this spoiler on mine, its not a perfect fit

You need to bear in mind it was made for the mk1 like Jasons, not mine.

Its slightly too long for the mk2 thats why it flexes and lifts slightly.

As for paint flaking etc. you should definately take it back to Renault.

thanks jill, if anyone is interested in buying it off me, PM will sell with the brake light as well. Make me an offer!

my arial is at the front - its a mk1.

and that spoiler was made for mk1s, but non-172s, so i still had the same fitment problem. itd go nice and easily on a std 2000- clio, same phase as mine.
