Reset the 182 ECU

Car  Embarrassed to say

Is there someway to reset the ecu on the 182 other than disconnect the battery? My mates 182 is burning way to much fuel and he thinks resetting the ecu will be the solution.

Think you just disconnect the battery for about 30 mins.

Not sure what will happen with the alarm though.

The best thing you can do is to disconect the battery for approx 1hr and once you reconect it start the engine what will probably happen is you will get a dash full of warning lights which should turn off after about 30 secs. This is what i tell customers to do if they are having problems once they have fitted induction kits on there car, it is also the advice which the likes of K&N and Pipercross give.

With regards to the alarm all it will do is reset itself.

Yes hes not getting decent mpg.

My cup seems to be fine at 1300miles, sips petrol although i dont think its making full power yet because my 172 cup seems more urgent in its delivery.
