Please don't change your car to please a load of keyboard warriors on here.

If you're happy with it then keep it as it is.

Tidy looking cup btw.

Looks good, think I saw you at Reading a few weeks back... You got pops and bangs? Made quite an entrance lol

pmsl....i really wish i saw that...i was in a world of my own letting the overrun just do its thing

  172 Cup 181bp 165lbf
LoL Awesome!!

Do you find you blast through more fuel? Also does it literally bang after every gear change ?

No effect on fuel....obviously it will if you are driving everywhere over 4k. Its not like on a switch but it is controllable if that makes sence...Personally I love the gear change going UP....Brummmmmmm BANG Bruuuuuummmm Bang

  Audi A4
LoL Mine bubles and bangs when its toasty but never like gun shots... I want mine kinda like the mini cooper S works, where they crackle... you know? LoL

Harnesses still work without a specific bar to attach to, so i dont see its such a big deal as you are making out.

I know this but if I was going to be fitting a cage/half cage I would want it to at least have a harness bar so I can mount them as they really should be mounted.

Cage like this. lol.

You mean a cage that still has the most important bit structurally. Fail.

Yes a cage like this, one that's cheap, no harness bars and isn't even fitted properly.

weld plates in, done. Better than not having one at all. I'll agree there's no point if you're not going to even fit it properly though

Roll cage that's too thin with fake stickers on, making your exhaust pop and bang so it sounds like it has a turbo... LOL

Too thin for what?
Wouldnt get FIA homologation, but that doesnt mean it does nothing at all in an impact (although fitting it properly would help of course!)

Its not a personal grudge against you, its just a grudge against anyone who fills their car full of race looking parts that actually arent.

He just doesnt like tacky chavvy modifications, rather than specifically not liking you I would imagine.

Your car appeals to the younger audience, and to people not especially into trackdays and stuff as they think its something it isnt, and thats obviously the look you were going for, but you have to accept that people with "proper" cars will view yours as a bit of a facepalm one.

Exactly what chip says

I really don't understand why everyone has to pretend their car is a track car - PROPER track cars aren't pretty, they're built for purpose. My roll cage is hammerited, my bonnet is covered in dents to make room for the ITB's, it's noisey and horrid to drive on the road.

A 172 cup is a very fun and capable french hot hatch - I had an awesome time in mine around the Nurburgring with full leather interior and a set of decent springs on it - even got a low 9 minute lap in

Why fit a very cheap roll cage and fake stickers to a car that will never see a track?
And why make your exhaust pop and bang like a 400bhp anti-lag WRC car when it's quite clearly a small french hatchback?

I hate the fact that "track stuff" like roll cages, carbon fibre, fire extinguishers etc... are all now viewed as styling accessories

lol tbh mate, i let them....I could be boring and put the car back to standard and just ask stupid questions like what oil should i use on this forum but instead I thought I would try new things out. But like you said, each to their own...

You doing Bedford in Nov mate? Me, Charles and Woody are going

Its going Bedford open pit day in Nov so how do you work that one out?

As for pops and bangs, it needed mapping due to the decat and I thought for the extra tiny money why not, its abit of fun....and tbh its controllable to some extent. Granted its like marmite

Sadly I cant make that one I dont think mate, will see nearer the time though, next one I have booked at bedford isnt till Feb now, although got a few days at the ring and spa next month.

It's not controllable - it's foooking horrid

The ECU I bought with my ITB's had been mapped by someone who thought "why not" - and every time you went over 4k and lifted off it popped and banged
It drove me INSANE - I got w**ker symbols everywhere I went, it pissed fuel away

When I got it mapped properly I had the big chunk of negative ignition advance removed, lost the pops and bangs and gained about 10bhp

Also..... needed mapping because of the decat? No it doesn't it needs the cat putting back on
I run 200bhp through a 200cell cat (same as the standard one) - others have run 230+ through a ph1 cat - why remove it and make your car noisey as hell, then spend money on a remap and make it even noisier - and end up with the same power?
That's all money you could have spent improving handling, or getting the cage fitted properly, or actually making more power

Not trying to go off topic too much but I would recommend you get the normal 98RON map for the trackday as not only will you be using a lot of fuel on the day as it is but you'll be using a damn site more with that map.

Then there's the fact that you'll be spending most of your time in the power band so the noise of the pops and bangs might get on yours and other peoples nerves a bit. It may also cause you to get thrown off due to noise limits.

Phil I see your point but you are making yourself out to look a bit of a tw**. Its his car and if he wants pops and bangs, furry dice and a pink roof its all his choice. He didn't come on here to have a character assassination over how his car looks he came on to say 'look at my cage'. I like it and tbh irrespective of people's comments I'd have one. I can afford a better cage but for what I use the car for if it had the right tubing then I'd be happy with that as a half cage. We can all b**ch and snipe at people's cars but tbh I have a sticker bombed rear bumpr and couldn't honestly give a toss if somoen likes it or not. I drive a brand new car and get another one every six months my Clio is my track car and thats it. If he wants to do whatever leave him to it. Time to get down off the high horse and say 'fella its not my taste but its a start.

Cant we all just get along... ? If people don't like stuff, don't comment, if you like it, show some love... Too much negativity on this forum has made quite a few of my mates not use it.

Buy and sell and project threads are pretty much the only reason I use this forum now due to the sh1tty comments... For example me changing from RS2 to 438 cams + KTR IK... The amount of agro I got from that... I gained power and the car felt better but obviously I was in the wrong.

Anyway just saying... Enjoy your weekend guys!!

Tank, if people only posted positive comments no one would actually get any honest feedback.

Were you the guy that ktec told the rs2 was rubbish cause they don't know (or didnt want to..) how to map them? If so of course people would point out that was nonsense because if the product itself wasn't good then mike from Mwm wouldn't be regularly hitting 190bhp with them tested on independent rollers. Ktec had a vested interest in making it look rubbish and took you in hook line and sinker, shame you didn't take it to mike!

I don't know why people care so much? Fair enough of you don't like the blokes car, feel free to say so, but to go to so much effort to write out multiple posts about why you don't like it is pretty pathetic.

Car looks good.

They never said anything bad about the RS2 to me? THey both have pro's and cons... I miss Certain things about the RS2 but love the cams.

Has anyone played with the RS2 and different cams yet?

Sorry mate, wrong person then.

Me and mike both have 197 cams in ours, feels good on the road but neither of us had it on rollers yet, his feels better than mine at high rpm TBH, but he has a decat which might be helping.

James had C&B ones in his:
201-bhp-graph.jpg

That was before Mike started doing the mapping though, so no idea if it would have been any better or not now that he is, but over 200bhp and on standard ecu etc isnt to be sniffed at :)

James hated it as he was so critical of the fact that the torque dipped for 1Krpm or so, but TBH I dont think that detracts from the fact that on track it would be great as you wouldnt be under 5K anyway.
