Rubbin!!!!

ok peeps gettin my 17s on sunday so bit worried bout em rubbin!

i got a RT on 195/50/15s at the mo and they dont rub really unless on full lock which i think they rub on the strut itself so i spose spacers will sort that out! ne thing else i should do to prepare?

wot spacers should i get?

these ne good?

ne 1 know where i can get cheap 16v new ones r £65!

Cheers

Alex

What 17s u gettin with what tyre ? im putting 205/40/17 s on my RL so you shouldnt see any scrubbing unless you lower it ! Because of the lower profile tyre on the 172 the diameter of them is only 2.5" bigger than my 13s ! 17s with a 205/40/17 have a diameter of 23.45 " whereas my 165/65/13s have a diameter of just under 21" ! There is easily that much gap in the arch ! Its just as you said the strut which may cause a problem.

ive lowered it 40mm front, 60mm back!

its only the front which im worried about and the biggest problem is i have to drive 150 miles from trax back to mine!

ill buy some spacers today and see if that stops the srubbin on my 15s!

15s = 22"
17s = 23"

205/40/17!

are they 7 joules Alex? if they are you shouldnt have a prob but if they are 8s or somat you gonna have a prob!!

mornin BTW!

vix :)

they wont be 8! most are 6.5j or 7j, but most likely to be 7J!

i might see if i can try my mates on before i go!

started by shavin down the front bumper where it curves into the arch and takin out the arch lining!

why most are 7.5 or 8s! you plum

well you should be alright then 7j are said to clear on a 16v so take out the arch linings and that and you should have no probs but i would check first dont want to have to keep stoppin on the way home lol!!

Ah yes.. its always nice to have a Glenn in your toolbox incase you get some rubbin :eek:

My rear wheels rubbed on that evil sticky out bit on the inner arch..

I advise you get a dremel in that collection too - those things rules.. First time Ive ever used one - sparks flying, love it.. hah.
